I am an expert in my niche offline, how to make $ online with my skills (help please)

I work in my niche offline and there is endless people willing to pay me for my skills, when I search forums for my niche online there is an overwhelming want/need for what I have to offer (hungry market). I want to create info products and sell them online to my niche.

However when I use Market Samurai to search keywords it doesn't look like a very good market.

There is one product on clickbank for this niche, there isn't much comptiton for this niche however there are other people online (websites selling info products) who are experts like me in this niche but that don't have any IM skills i.e. SEO, list building, blogs etc.

What should I do? I am thinking just go ahead with the site anyway.

What keywords should I use, as the one's I try don't really show up in MS.

In the niche forums they don't allow a signature at the ends of posts. What would be some good ways to drive traffic to this site? I was thinking maybe banner ads in the niche forums??

Thanks
Dave

Maybe your keywords are not the ones that interested people enter into Google? You could do a survey and ask people in the niche forums for feedback what they'd search for to get the information you can supply.

Thanks Heike for the idea. Yes I was thinking this myself just wasn't sure how to find out what they were searching for in google.

      Congrats on your first post.

Well its sounds like a lot of contradictions.

Not many products or searches and keywords but you say is in high demand.

I would do some more research and find out why this is.

With these sort of results there must be a reason. Perhaps the offline market you are dealing with does not go online much.

Remember do not get emotional but work off the figures.

Of course if you are researching emotionally just have a go as there is not much expense in creating a website etc to test the market.

Thanks Quentin, I think maybe I have been using the wrong keywords. (maybe it's because I have drilled down into my miro niche) however the niche itself as a whole is HUGE.

There are other products being sold (physical products) by people like myself who are trained in this area however there sites don't have, SEO, blogs, opt-in etc.

Your right I will launch the site and see how it goes. Won't take my much to put up a blog (this I know how to do).

This is what I was thinking, expect for the forum part. Great idea.

I am also in the process of writing a book.

      Thank you thank you.

So many times people don't bother searching for terms because when they do nothing shows up. So they give up and don't bother searching again.

You want to make sure and not only dominate the Niche.. Have a thriving forum too.

Make a community and sell to it

Teach them how to teach other people about your niche.

If what you are saying is true. You can be the GURU of your niche.

And you're in the right forum to learn how to own a niche.

You might want to find some experts here in Warrior Forum that also have a product or list in your niche. In that way, you can set up some profitable joint venture. You can catapult yourself quickly into the guru status without spending too much time.

Create your own site quickly and jump on in!

Don't over think it. You already stated that your competition is pretty clueless about IM techniques. You can use this to your advantage. Post your own unique information on your site that's different than everyone else is offering.

Get yourself an autoresponder from Aweber or Get Response and start a free newsletter where you offer some hot info they can't get anywhere else. Maybe a free report.

Then, write your book and offer it on your site. Use your offline experiences for content ideas.

PROMOTE, PROMOTE and PROMOTE your site some more. Lots of info in this forum about all sorts of ways to do this.

Get going and take action on this now!

        Okay, did I hypnotize you into doing something ( ;

Maybe the words you are looking for is more of a regional thing. For example, in Canada, I say pop, in the U.S. it means, soda. Both refer to Coca Cola or something like that. Same with couch and chesterfield. Try other variations.

David, it sounds like you're suffering from "insider's disease"...

You know the words people should be looking for to find someone with your expertise. It sounds like you don't know the words they are actually using.

Unless they also want to become practitioners, they don't want to know about NLP or hypnosis. They want the results of successfully using those techniques, right?

Unless you are catering to a fetish community, "being hypnotized" isn't at the top of the bucket list. But "quitting smoking" or "flying without panic" or "not looking at porn instead of going to work" might be...

David, I think John is right.
There are people making lots of money online selling hypnosis and NLP. An easy way in might be going after the applications instead of the fundamental skills. Why do people want to learn your skills? Is it to:
        lose weight
        get dates
        get confidence
        make sales
        have a good job interview
        etc.
        Lots of business out there.

Approach the people running the sites and see if they're willing to either:

          # Do a joint venture where they promote you in exchange for a significant portion of the sales generated (think 50% to 75%+...remember you can always make money on back end sales to a list of happy buyers).

          # Ask if they'll sell advertising space on their site to you or if they'll charge you to email their list.

          One important note:

Successful marketing isn't so much about finding a hungry market.

You need to find a hungry market you can get easy and economical access to.

The second part of that statement is where the rubber meets the road.

          Kindest regards,

Ask some of the big NLP gurus what the top 5 questions they get. Then build your site around answering those questions.

What pain do people have that need to learn NLP ? (besides wanting to program everyone to buy their stuff.) If you are doing a book set out to do a number of articles from what you learn are the top questions. The How, What,When,Where,Why of NLP or your particular take on it.

Look at some of the reviews on Amazon as well as what is selling on Ebay to get some ideas. What kind of book is the topseller. Look at the look inside book image to get the table of contents and index for ideas. They are a goldmine.

Which keywords are the niche forum optimized for?

What are the most popular/repeated questions and topics at the forum? How are they worded?

Does the niche forum advertise? If so, where? Have you reverse engineered the marketing efforts of the niche forum?

Do the members of the niche forum discuss any products/services they have bought? If so, what keywords are those products/services optimized for? Where do they advertise?

Could your expertise be wrapped into a product that you can provide here on the forum. Perhaps an eBook that people could purchase to give away on their own sites.

Keep searching for keywords because NLP is becoming more popular and you could build yourself an authority site and sell your own eBook on your own site.

Are you sure? Do you already have contact w/these endless people who are willing to pay you for your skills? If so, start building a list (yesterday)!

If they already know, love and trust you...just talk to them and tell them you are putting together something really awesome that will help them and then just ask them for their name and email address. Write it down and use an autoresponder service that does NOT require double opt-in.

And/or make up inexpensive business cards (vista print or something) and tell them to visit your "squeeze page" (don't call it that)...if needed offer them a free tip or two or whatever for their name & email address...build from there (products, reports, coaching, think recurring and think residual....).

Why don't you start a forum of your own and take your offline customers there.I believe the will introduce more customers to your forum.

In addition you should do some offline ad and take the people you are targeting to your online forum by luring them with gifts, possibly a special report you can give out for free.

I don't know if this helps. But l wish you the very best in everything you chose to do .
