HELP! Still Confused About How to Cater to My Email List

Hey folks,
As someone who just started creating a list, I'm still a bit confused about how to properly follow up with them. What I DO understand is that I should follow up with them a few days after they sign up telling them that they hope they got value out of my free report and asking them to send any feedback suggestions. I also understand emailing them automatically once a week with a tidbit of info to build trust.
Here's what I'm confused about:

1) My site is a review site of an affiliate product. Before my squeeze page was up, visitors were able to directly access it, now they can't because of the squeeze page. That being said, people had told me to wait a while before trying to sell my list anything, so does this mean that I don't immediately direct them to my review site after they opt-in but wait awhile before suggesting that my subscribers visit my review site which has the product I'm promoting to solve whatever which problem? When do I send them to my actual review site?

2) When I do actually tell my subscribers to check out the affiliate product, is better to give them a DIRECT affiliate link to the actual product or do I send them to my review site?

3) When you sign off and you include the url to your website, do I use the www.mydomain.com (which is the squeeze page) or do I use the www.mydomain.com/main.html (the review page of the product).

4) Are your newsletters simply supposed to read like articles you write for EZA or goarticles or are they supposed to be longer/shorter?

5) Would it be "proper" to take all my articles I've written on EZA and simply just send them to my list week after week or will that turn off my subscribers in case they might have read them on EZA or somewhere else?

Thank you VERY much....
Your help is much appreciated!

Ike

Well I hope this helps. Now think about it for a second, how can I create a relationship with my list through emails? All you have to do is write the type of emails that are going to entertain your list as well as provide entice them to want to read your emails. The first thing you have to do is be genuine and honest. This means do not promote bad products to them to make a sale. It is not always how much you make because the longer they stay a good customer to you, the more money you can make. It starts off with providing excellent content on your particular niche and also by telling stories. This all helps to create a better relationship with potential customers.

Here is how the sequence of how your emails should go:

Week 1-2: An introduction to your email list and who you are. Then move into free content with helpful links to other sites as well as yours.

Week 3-4: Start doing story telling and go into soft sells of your promotions. Continue going back and forth with soft sells and free content.

Week 5-6: Start doing hard sells which is direct promotions and add bonuses. Start bumping up better free content and alert of new promotions coming up. Then continue hard selling them for problems that may have.
Now this is just how I do my email marketing campaigns and you can use this as reference. My email strategy came from the Affiliate Millionaire Product so I know it works. Now let me explain in detail what you should pay attention to when writing emails. Now the first thing is the headline then straight into the copy.

    The headline examples:

Headline – I want to say thank you
Headline – Shocking Video A Must See!
    Headline – Stop thief!!
Headline – Were going live, go, go, go
Headline – Secrets To My Success Revealed Here
Headline – Unanimous New Discovery Found
Headline – Help This Needs Your Attention!
Headline - Oh My Gosh The All In One Solution

The body: When writing the body you have to make sure the paragraphs are short. For example, there should only be 4 lines in a paragraph because you don’t want the information to be bunched up together, this makes the reader not want to read it. It should look clear and have different fonts that are suitable to the readers likes and your emphasis on importance.
Now there are 3 types of emails you can write, the first type if a story, the second type is updated information on whats happening in the niche and the third type is a promotion. Now I will break down each type of email and tell you exactly what they do.

Email Type 1 – The Story: Now story telling is a good way to have your customers buy into your promotions. Now this technique works best with passion markets. This reason is because with passion markets they are more likely to buy anything that will solve there problem. Be aware not to lose there trust because its bad for your business. So usually you tell them a story that is entertaining and usually has a soft sell into a promotion at the end. Just make sure the pricing is not too high because its better to start low and move into better quality stuff.

Email Type 2 – Free Quality Content: Give them some helpful information regarding there problem. Sometimes you can refer them back to your blog if it provides helpful info or you can write articles. You can also refer them to other blogs if they are helpful.

    Email Type 3 – Promotion:
When promoting all you have to do is refer them to a product through a story or direct. Usually I do direct promotions with bonuses. This helps make more sales and this very easy way to make money.

    I hope this helps.

      Thanks you very much Charles.

I'm still not clear as on some things:

      - If your site is an affiliate site with a review page, you're not immediately redirecting them to your review page in your welcome letter but rather waiting?
      - Do your emails have the same structure as the articles on EZA?
      - Do you use an affiliate link to promote your product or do you send them to your review site first hoping that they'll click to the actual sales page?

      Thanks again.

        - If your site is an affiliate site with a review page then you can optional introduce yourself or start sending them the review with a bonus.

        - It does not have the same exact structure because emails need to look like its interesting. It would be 4 lines per paragraph with bolding and links.

I use an affiliate link but send them to a review site or pre-sell page. This always does better than just sending them to the product page.

You can email them once a week with some very helpful tips or more advice on what they signed up for in the first place. The key to them buying is to give give give before you ask for anything. You can put your review link at the bottom of every email. Just a link that says blahblahreview.com That is subtle and not pushy. If they want to go there they will.

You can use your articles from Ezine if you want to but I would take points if there are good ones and and mix match them in your emails instead of sending the exact article. I would also keep it shorter than the average 500 word article. People don't really like lengthy emails. Grab a couple of key points, write a few words about them and send off the email

Another thing I would do if I were you is to get on email lists of people that are popular and successful with their IM. Analyze their emails and see how they are doing it. Watch the successors you can learn a lot from them.

Get your list familiar with the fact that they know when you are sending something it is going to be something else they might want to know, good information. If you keep giving they will naturally want to buy eventually.

Kim, thanks a bunch! You've cleared up a lot of questions! It seems as if the downside to a squeeze page is that in the beginning you're not making as much money up front because people cannot directly hit your actual review page from the internet up front as they once were able to.

You can do 2 things here. Put a squeeze page as a sub page on the main domain ie: yourdomainhere.com/squeezepage - you'd direct traffic to this sub page, or get 2 clean domains - squeezepage.com and mainproductpromotionsandreviews.com

Actually, I think I'm starting to get it now. When you give your welcome email after they confirm, you direct them to your review page. Though, my next question is how do you properly articulate that they visit your review page in your welcome email?

I'm confused why they can't access the site. Send traffic to the squeeze page to get the name and give the download, and then send out a follow up message to go to your site that you blog on or whatever.

    2) When I do actually tell my subscribers to check out the affiliate product, is better to give them a DIRECT affiliate link to the actual product or do I send them to my review site?
You can do it either way. You'll have to test to see which method converts better for you.

    3) When you sign off and you include the url to your website, do I use the www.mydomain.com (which is the squeeze page) or do I use the www.mydomain.com/main.html (the review page ,of the product).
Well, you already got their name - which was the purpose of the squeeze page correct? Unless you want to add a link to your blog from the squeeze page (not recommended) then you should direct them to your site. If all you have is a review site with no new content on it, I'd think about getting another domain to direct them to for the long term. One that you can add to that will encompass many topics.
    4) Are your newsletters simply supposed to read like articles you write for EZA or goarticles or are they supposed to be longer/shorter?
This is up to you. If you were signing up to a list, what kinds of letters would you want to receive? You don't want someone selling you anything unless it will solve your problem - right? You probably would not want someone shoving product after product down your throat either. But wouldn't you like someone sending you useful tips and hints - with an occasional recommended product that will help with your problems?

    5) Would it be "proper" to take all my articles I've written on EZA and simply just send them to my list week after week or will that turn off my subscribers in case they might have read them on EZA or somewhere else?
If the article is pertinent to the list, you can certainly send them out. What are the odds that people on your list have read every one of your articles before signing up?

Anyway, I would not do this (even though it is ok to do).

I'd be posting those articles on a blog, then emailing the list with a brief "here's an article that covers the topic of XYZ" and have some titilating commentary attached that gets readers to click through to want to read the article on the blog - and leave the comments open for discussion.

This way I can add banners, aff links, etc on the blog and readers will bring traffic and may make purchases there on many different products.

However, I have no idea how broad or narrow your niche is - so this set up may not work for you.

      Avenuegirl:

Much thanks! You've just about answered every question I had and cleared up A LOT of confusion.

So then, it's not good to pitch your affiliate product at the end of every newsletter AFTER providing value like you do in articles, (e.g., if you want to find out more how to solve xyz problem go to www.mysite.ccom/product)

Yes the fine art of persuasion... you will have to do a little research here. Go through successful sales pages in WSO and see how they got people to click on their offer... emails from successful people promoting... you are not part of the warrior room perhaps you should... there are many free tips and tools in there
