What Does It Take To Be Successful Online? HINT: Communication Is Essential

People are always asking in forums, such as the WF, how they can be successful online...

The answer is easier than most people think:

Learn how to communicate with others on their level...

It really is that simple...

It is not the selection of the product or service that will make or break your business... It is your ability to communicate with others that will make or break your business...

For some people this is tough... They are married and have kids, and many have not communicated with their spouse or their children in years... And now I am telling them that they need to master the art of communication...

If you have good rankings in Google or any other search engine, it is the ability of the page title and description to communicate with the reader why they should visit the page... To get the person from the search engine to the web page...

If you build a web page, your title must communicate an idea with a reader that convinces that person to keep reading...

Then the page copy should communicate to the reader why they should want to take another action...

This will also apply to any forum posts or articles your write...

* Those who communicate an idea that others want to receive are those who are successful...

* Those who communicate the idea in a convincing manner are those who will be successful...

* And those who communicate an idea well enough to convince another person to take the desired action will also be successful...

All success online begins with the ability to communicate with another person, in a manner that feels right to the person who is receiving the communication...

So, if you want to be successful, master the art of communication...

You hit the nail on the head. i specialize in solutions for IM professionals. My biggest roadblock for years was talking tech to non-techs. It still is a issue at times for me but I've learned you have to speak relative to the group your speaking too.
    Good post.

That's true. You can expect other people to know the same things that you know. You have to adjust to their pace. It's the best way to get their attention and understand your message.

Your intelligence is based on how intelligent your audience is.

If you communicate with a newbie with all jargon he surely will say a bye-bye.
If you communicate with with and advanced level guy with newbie level knowledge, he will say this is all Bull****

Based on your audience you need to adjust yourself and give them what they want. This will make you successful.

You pointed out the right direction tpw, but that little art is not a game that everyone knows how to play.

Be a good communicator to walk smiling to your bank or else day job is the only alternative I can think of.

Warren: Thank you. I do understand that not everyone knows how to play the game, and some never will.

For those who cannot grasp the game, day jobs will often be forever.

That's a damn good post buddy. Very spot on and insightful. Communication is something I've worked hard on recently... because I was often reclusive and stand off-ish. I was so determined to be a better communicator it changed WHO I communicated with.

If I just could not get the communication to work with someone, I started communicating less and less with that person. For me, I need to be surrounded by positive, empowering, supportive people... and negativity and anger just throw me way off.

People are important in business, and the synergy you have with others... and they have with you is paramount. I see now from your post that communication goes deeper than even people... like with SEO, etc.

Very good post, I dig it.

Good stuff Bill. Now.... if you will just tell me 'how' I do this, I'll get right on it.
