joomla and aweber...anyone familiar?

I'm working on my moms business website which apparently uses joomla. This is the first time I've ever used joomla and I am totally unfamiliar with it.

I need to add an aweber opt in form to this particular site.

The problem is that the instructions provided by aweber are either outdated or my moms website uses a different version of joomla (my mom doesnt know a damn thing about the site as a friend of hers put the site together for her earlier this year).

According to the aweber instructions I need to download the aweber module and install it. I've already downloaded the module but on my version of joomla there is no option to install the module.

Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

Thanks!

Do a search at the Joomla plugins site. There's a free aWeber plugin there.

Create a new module from scratch. Assign it to the position you want. In the code section, paste in the Aweber form code. That should be all you need.

    • you can create a module or search maybe there is a module that bridge between the aweber and the joomla user interface
go to Joomla! and search the extension database

      • the problem I'm having is that I don't know how to install the module. I have already downloaded the module.

There is supposed to be a modules section on joomla where I can install the module but I can't find it. It isn't located where the aweber instructions tell me it is.

what you need to do is that:

          1. login to your administrator panel - www.yoursite.com/administrator
          2. in the menu go to extensions=>install/uninstall
          3. in the Upload Package File form browse for your file on your local pc
          4. upload it, you don't need to unpack the zip file, it will install it from within the zip
          5. after you get a confirmation for the installation go to extension=>module manager and search for your new module and press on it to enter into the module settings
          6. choose a placement for your module, enable it and check all the settings that need to be set.
          7. save your work with the save button and you should see your form on your page

          good luck

You're probably reading instructions for Joomla 1.0. If so, make sure the plugin is compatible with 1.5.

If it is, here's the instructions.

If you have MY Aweber module, which you probably do... I think ti is the only one out there...
    Go to Extensions - Install/Uninstall
Then browse for the zip file.
    Then click Upload and Install
It should upload and install the module automatically.
You can PM me if you have any issues with it.

Guys - darrinmcl's module is the best. If you paste code into a new module then you often get layout issues and the like. darrinmcl's module seperates the design from the operations of the module - so it works on just about any template.

As above , in Joomla 1.5 you need to go www.yoursite.com/administrator , login then go to extensions >> Install / Uninstall then browse to your module zip file , select it and click upload.

Then hit extensions >> module manager to configure it.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

    • Ok, I'm on the administrator section and there is no "extensions" option anywhere.

I can only chose from the following options:

      Site
      Menus
      Content
      Components
      Help

I can also choose from the following:

      Add New article
      article manager
      frontpage manager
      section manager
      category manager
      frontpage manager

I can't find anything for extensions or modules anywhere...
