List Building - Secrets Revealed?

Hi people!

It's been a while since I posted something, and am wanting to get back into the WF proper-like. I just thought I'd give my two cents on how to start building a list.

In my personal experience, I have found that the 'c-factor' (curiosity) pays dividends in creating a list.

I would say unconditionally - give them something for free!! Make sure it's not 'cheap information' either, make it worth it.

Think of it this way, when you're looking for information on any niche (e.g. how to get started in Internet Marketing), the VAST MAJORITY of sites you come across are your typical 'sales letter' page. If you're anything like me, you have trained yourself to click the close button before the full page has loaded if it looks like a "sales page" that is why I think that less is more in an initial squeeze page.

Pitch it as a product, spend time on the graphics and make it look like a professional page - this will give the viewer the impression of professionalism, and it will start building an element of trust between you both.

Give them the title of the report you're giving away, and let them create their own content in their head, this builds up hope / expectations - which is why I say, the more valuable the information you give to them, the more their expectations will be met, and the more trust you build in them.

I realise this all may sound pretty simple stuff, but it's a starting off point.

If you don't have the money to start paying for fancy autoresponders like aweber or icontact, then MAILCHIMP is fantastic - it offers a free membership for up to 500 subscribers, and the quality of the software is fantastic.

So, I hope some of you find this information useful. More to come on implementing this, but in the mean time, thanks for reading.

Good luck online.
