iPad sales could pass 7 million units this year

Guys,

Many of us create ebooks, or are affiliates of ebooks. Ebooks are now going mainstream and Apple is leading the way. This is a fundamental change for the mainstream. Important stuff.

I was going to buy one, but it doesn't support flash.

When I looked into it to see if there was a flash app, I read an article where Steveo called Adobe a closed system and so they won't support it...

Isn't that what Apple is? I cant use Keynote on my PC.

    Apple fail...

I agree totally, thats why I was turned off about the flash thing.

I have a product that I was going to market to local businesses using the Ipad as the medium of delivery, but my product is based in flash...

    it was quite upsetting.

Its not actually, its an interactive video. Typically a sales video.

I love my iPad - stunning device.

Here is a screenshot of Kindle on my iPad.

One of the books might be quite familiar

Aaron take a look at trying to replicate it with jQuery/CSS3. Pretty much most flash animation and interaction can be emulated (with a bit of work).

    Kind regards, Spencer

I have to agree. Thing is, Bezos is pretty smart too. Amazon has their Kindle app everywhere; iPad, iPhone, touch, Blackberry, Android, PC, Mac, etc.

Look at HTML5 if it is to be viewed through the browser. It is not yet standard still on HTML4.x but it's heading that way. Apple products all support HTML5 (how do you think the youtube videos work?) so there are ways around it and you can get probably get your video to work (not sure about the interactive element) but I reckon using HTML5+CSS3+javascript/jquery you can do it, just not sure what combo you'll need

How to Make Money on the iPad

...already developers and software companies are salivating at the Apple customers' consistent willingness to pony up a few bucks to add value to their device by downloading a new app. If you're diving in to that demand, experts recommend getting a quick start.
          Really good article here:

I certainly won't be getting one myself. If I had to do web work on one of those, that would probably be the tipping point and I'd quit.

But obviously it is a market of people who have problems with way too much money and not enough brains, so yeah, go out and sell them something.

I can't see people using those as full blown workstations, but for browsing, reading, surfing and the like...all day long.

Good point. For fun and games, reading, casual stuff. I definitely wouldn't want to use it as a workstation.

          iPad users are rich, selfish?

A survey of over 20,000 web users has claimed that iPad owners tend to be members of so-called "selfish elites": more likely to be wealthy and sophisticated, but with a propensity toward unflattering attributes such as self-centredness and gluttony.
iPad users are rich, selfish, uncaring pigs: survey | The Spy Report

Not sure how accurate that "research" is. But I do know that Apple customers in general will spend more than Kindle customers. I believe iPad will be very lucrative for ebook creators soon.

      No you can't.

There are things that load in that site that will not load in an ipad.

If you want to test your site on an iPad you had better test it on an iPad. Head down to your local Best Buy if you don't have access to one and test it there.

I bought one for one of my employees here in the office so we can test on it... I won't buy one for my self though as for me its just a useless web toy that does not do most of what I want to do on the web.

If you want to read digital books and consume iTunes goods... and occasionally read an article or two on the web... that is about all its good for. It'd make a good coffee table item for those who can afford it but its not a productivity device and its still like surfing the web with a lobotomy.

Now if it supported flashplayer and had a built in fully functional iTunes software that could sync podcasts without docking... then I would be excited. For now I will stick with my iPod touch.

The guy who works for me here in the office that I gave the iPad to puts it in his pocket. He is 6'8" so we joke that when people ask him if that is an iPad in his pocket he just tells them its the iPhone XL for big people.

Current estimates are ebooks will outsell all physical books on amazon.com by the end of next year. Pretty staggering

Also ebook reader prices are dropping like stones.....

Guess who is selling to that market :>
