How to be successful on the Warrior Forum, You Can Make friends and influence a Ton of People. Read!

Hi All,

Especially new posters.

Yes you can literally influence a ton of people, Read On.

OK, if Admin made a post and and the subject line was "Do You?" That post would probably get 300 or 500 reads.

On the other hand if his subject line said "Do You want to make $100 today it would get a couple of thousands reads.

There are other members, in addition to Admin, who would get threads opened just because of who they are. Even if the subject line is "Do You," "How To," "Will You?," etc.

(Side bar. I really do mean a TON of people. Read on...)

However, have you noticed that those ones who would get read with any subject line usually if not always use COMPLETE subject lines.

The point? There is plenty of room to put up an interesting and reader attracting subject line. If you want to get read, speak in complete sentences and "reveal" to us what you are addressing in your Original Post.

(Come on George you said a Ton of Warriors! Yes, read on...)

So if you want to impart a particular word of wisdom to us, at least give us a hint on how we can benefit from opening your thread. Also, if you want to ask a question, ask it in the Subject line. Believe me there are enough other Warriors who want to help that you will get read and you will get answers if you let everyone know what your post is going to be about.

This also usually applies to emails.

Do you agree?

Now if this post only gets 3 or 4 reads forget all of the above.

Thanks,
George Wright, P.S. Also be honest in your subject line. I think mine was honest. If the average Warrior weighs 150 pounds you only have to influence 14 Warriors to make a ton.

In other words, write a decent subject line!

I never click on "Read this..." or "How about this" posts. The vaguer, the less chance I'll click.

You're referencing a great book, btw.

Very true. Being descriptive in your post titles is sure to get more attention. In fact, it is your title name that brought me to this post as the very first one I clicked on when I came to the forum just now. So it really works!

I liked in your thread how you would put what you were feeling or what you thought the reader was feeling in parenthesis - it really gave the thread a nice touch. Nice point with the thread!

    You're right George.

I don't know about anyone else but the reason that's true for me is because reading the subject is the only clue I have that tells me what the posts are about before I open them.

That's important because there's a heck-of-a-lot of threads in this forum and it takes time to open and read them. I prefer to read the ones I'm interested in, know something about, or that I can learn something from.

There's been times when I checked a post with a vague subject to see what it was and then saw that it wasn't about anything that I was interested in or knew anything about at all - so it essentially wasted my time.

I much prefer the posts with subjects that tell you what's inside so you know before opening it if you're interested in what it's about, can help someone with what it's about, or want to learn more about the topic. If not then you don't have to waste your time with it.

I wonder... is writing a successful subject line comparable to writing a strong, compelling headline?

      Seems to me it is.

Both are supposed to "suck" you into reading the body of text, right?
Both need to be honest yet pique curiosity, right?
Both need to be short and to the point, right?

      Thoughts?

I wrote an article on this years ago but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Basically, if you stop to consider exactly "how" people get exposed to you, you then understand the real power of headlines or subject lines...

How do they first get exposed to you?

        An email subject line...
        A forum subject line...
The text that shows up in google...
        Your sig file...

        And on and on...

When you consider that people virtually can't be exposed to you at all without some form of subject line or headline you understand just how all powerful they really are.

If it doesn't make them open it...you lose. There is no chance of anything if they don't first open the post, email or click on the google title or whatever it may be.

          Hi Allen,

          Here is your Article,

Your Sales Letter May Be Incredible, But If Your Headline Doesn't Catch Them The Sales Letter Will Never Get Read!

You must understand the power and importance of headlines. 80% of the power and effectiveness of your ad is in the headline you choose. One will have the power to draw the reader into the rest of your letter and another will not.

          You must test.
One headline will pull up to 1500% more response/profit than another!
Books that sold few copies became bestsellers when the publisher stripped the title (headline) and replaced it with another. The rest of the book remained exactly the same.
Powerful headlines must scream out the biggest benefits you can think of.

It must grab the reader and make him want to read more.
Some examples of the best headline types.....
          The News Headline:

"Breakthrough Internet Marketing Group Uncovers The Secrets To Getting Rich On The Web Using Simple Math Strategies!"

          The 'Yes' Question Headline:
"Would You Like To Know How An Ex-Bouncer With No Internet
Experience Pulled In Over $120,494.32 His First Year
          On The Net?"

          The 'How-To' Headline:
"How To Add At Least $745 A Week To Your Profits Just By
Adding One Little Line To Your Web Site!"

Here are actual headlines that where a huge success...

"Imagine Harry and Me Advertising Our Pears in Fortune!"

People love personal stories...who's Harry and me? why did you advertise in Fortune Magazine? did it work?....

"The Secret of Making People Like You"

It's easy to see why this was a success. You can't get any more direct than this headline. It strikes directly at a need virtually everyone has. The Power Word "secret' attracts attention.

"How to Get Rid of an Inferiority Complex"

The how-to headline creates a desire to read more. The benefit "getting rid of their inferiority complex" is something millions of people need. It's totally direct and to the point.

"The Crimes We Commit Against Our Stomachs"

"Crimes" a Power Word that attracts attention simply because it already has deep meaning to everyone. What Crimes am I commiting against my stomach?..the desire to know more brought them into the ad..

"How I Made A Fortune With A "Fool Idea"

Paradox Power - This headline created immense curiosity ....How did you make a fortune with a fool idea?...could I do it too?...

"How To Win Friends And Influence People"

Another direct headline that cuts right to the heart of millions of people's most basic desires. The desire to be liked and to have a presence that makes an impact.

Not only that, also do a keyword research and include the keywords in your message title. This way you will get lots of "outsiders" reading your posts. Google loves forums like warrior.

Dennis Becker wrote a great ebook (available in the private forum, I believe) called "How to Win Forum Friends and Influence People."

It is not exactly about writing compelling thread titles, but it talks about how important it is to be active in a forum and present yourself well

That's not the one I was thinking of George...

The one I'm referring to talks about how virtually every way someone can contact you on the Internet starts first with some form of a headline.

I know I have it but it's lost in 20,000 other files :-)

Good post George, I have got so I don't read the thread if I don't get the whole picture of what they want in the title. I use to, but it just takes too long anymore because everyone wants to make it a mystery.

10 Mind Altering Words That Make People Buy

    1. Use the word "fast" in your ad. People want fast
results, fast delivery, fast ordering, etc. Nowadays,
we usually value our time more than our money.

    2. Use the word "guaranteed" in your ad. People
want to be assured they are not risking their hard
    earned money buying your product.

    3. Use the word "limited" in your ad. People want
to own or receive things that are exclusive or rare
because they are considered to be more valuable.

    4. Use the word "easy/simple" in your ad. People
want easy ordering, easy instructions, easy to use,

want to see believable proof before they buy your
product. It should be reputable and specific proof.

    6. Use the word "discount/sale " in your ad. People
want to find bargains. They could be rebates, one
time sales, percentage offers, get one free offers, etc.

    7. Use the word "free" in your ad. People want free
incentives before they do business with you. They
could be free books, accessories, services, etc.

    8. Use the word "you/your" in your ad. People want
to know that you are talking them. This'll make them
feel important and attract them to read the whole ad.

    9. Use the word "important" in your ad. People do
not want to miss important information that could
effect their life. People will stop and take notice.
