What is the Average Hold Time For Membersites?

Hi Warriors,
I wonder what is the average hold time for a membersite? I know that there are various factors that play in but lets assume the below:

the monthly billing is about $19-$39 and also the membersite is updated on a regular basis.

Can you let me know your experience in hold time? The more detailed the better...

What is the overall general hold time that you can expect in today's online business....

Thanks a billion,
Chloe

It's going to depend a lot on the type of site and the content, but in my experience the average is 3 - 4 months.

You'll get some people that cancel after the first month, then others that will stick around forever, so it'll be a little all over the place... but usually averages a few months per member.

I have to agree with Justin. It depends a lot on the type of site, the content available, and the terms but on average, for an indefinite term membership, it's about a few months per member with the odd members canceling after the first month. You will get some that stay long term if the content is good, but people tend to get tired of paying for an ongoing membership after a few months unless they are getting a lot of value from the membership.

I'd agree it's going to vary considerably ... Most of the sites I know of have stick rates of about 3 months.

But I think you'll also find it's a combination of price, conversions and stick rates -- not really one in isolation.

Kid you not ... you should definatley check out Lee McIntyes Platinum Coaching program or Jason Fladliens Membershipsite Tactics because they've got some seriously good (and helpful information) on pricing, stick rates and conversions (including how to sell continuity programs).

thanks guys...So I think a one time fee is probably better in the end? memberships sounds nice theretically but practically its just a short time then like a few months as you say...let me know if anyone have more comments?
