Which is a better set up? Blog with Product or...

Hi Guys,

Please share with me from your expertise
regarding the following options to set up
my up coming project.

Which is better?

(1) Using the same domain
Create the blog as the homepage
Add banner and link to direct it
to the products put under another
page.

(2)Using the same domain.
Make the product as the home page
with the blog on separate page.

(3)Separate Blog and Product under
different domain.

Thanks in advance

Personally, I prefer the blog as the home page. Fresh content on the home page keeps everything indexed and ranking well. If you home page is a landing page, then it will tend to drop in the rankings. You can divert the blog traffic in any direction to a landing page or any direction you want. Just my opinion.

You should do a study on click thrus of banners as opposed to text links.

      Nobody clicks on banners.

I think it depends on the type of market

If you look at one of the best Amazon sites out there only-cookware dot com

    you will see genius.

Static front page and her site comes up ranking first for like even typing in the words best cookware or best pots and many other combination

She is raking in the dough

If you're doing a product site the product should be front and center.

I don't want to go to kmart dot com and see a blog

    Anyway.. that's my humble opinion.

Does this site : (Best Cookware: Reviews for All Clad, Calphalon, Kitchen Cookware Sets) break amazon TOS or not. As they maybe use pictures from Amazon on their site?

It depends on the products you sell.

If its info product..go with option no. 1. Provides value in your blog posts to the visitors first..so they'll likely to buy your product once they trust you.

If its physical product..go with option no. 2. Like only-cookware dot com.

    I vote for this option:
    (2)Using the same domain.
Make the product as the home page
with the blog on separate page.

Just look at Fiverr, Google, or other big websites. They put the main product/ service at the homepage, and put the blog on separate page.

      Agree With this one!
If you are not having product on your main page and people may read your blog content and may bounce away.
