A question on affiliate data feeds

Hello friends,
I have a question on affiliate data feeds and how to monetize websites using affiliate data feeds. I have read that there are quite a few softwares that help build data feeds and help build websites within a few minutes.

Datafeedr, PhpBayPro, Associate-o-matic, BANS, Golden Can etc

My questions are

1. Are data feed sites profitable? If I build data feed websites and my website looks like thousands of other affiliates, wouldn't that be disastrous? What are the strategies to avoid duplicate content penalty?

2. With limited budget in hand which software would you recommend for building data feed sites?

3. Has anyone hired programmers to build data feed sites? If so, can you guide me through some useful resources.

I would appreciate any other information you may have in this regard.

Thanks

I can only speak from my own experience and from what I hear from other customers. My answer is yes. But note that building a site is one but promoting it is another thing. Nothing will happen if you don't take action after you've built your store(s).

A few things that make Datafeedr sites unique...

    - We do not rely on datafeed categories as a lot of datafeeds are poorly structured. With Datafeedr you have to build your own store structure from scratch by creating your own categories/subcategories. Then products can be added by using several search criteria.

This will make that every store is unique even if 2 people create a store in the same niche as they will create a different store structure and will use different search criteria to add products.

    - Another thing is that any well designed WP theme can be used to install a Datafeedr store on. With thousands of themes out there it will be hard to find 2 identical stores using the same theme.

    - Datafeedr allows you to choose what to display. You can choose to not display product descriptions for example if you're afraid of duplicate content. You can then display only titles, image pics, prices for example.

    - Finally it's important to add content to your blog so you get a good balance between unique content (blog posts) and affiliate pages.

Thanks for the reply Stefan. I apologize for the late reply, but I was out of town and didn't have access to the Internet. Thanks once again for clarifying about the data feeds.

I use Clickbank's XML feed and the profit would depend on how many visitors you have. Sometimes I added some products that I think is saleable. The good thing about data feed is you don't need to think for pages to add because it automatically pull contents from a source. To have more traffic, I add some articles on it and put some backlinks.

      Hi Ross,
Is there any tutorial on how to use Clickbank's XML feed? And moreover is there a way I can have my affiliate ID embedded in that feed? Please advise.

My clickbank mall script can do that

There is no way you can do it manually because it will consume your time. It must be programmed to make it updated. Clickbank always updating the products on their database. Try to download the XML at their marketplace and you can see why it is not good to be manual.
