Is This What You Call Affiliate 2.0 Marketing

Ok... so if affiliate 2.0 marketing is different from affiliate 1.0 according to Mike Filsame then the emails in my email box from MF for the past couple of months should reflect this "new and improved" type of marketing and "provide value" to the list of people that you are in "relationship" with.

So here is an image of my email inbox from MF.

Question: Does anybody see anything new and different here?

Maybe I'm just OCD, but did anyone else notice that there doesn't seem to be consistency in the capitalization of the letters (especially the first letters) of all those emails? That's a bit annoying...lol...sorry, if I just missed the whole point of the thread.

      Answer - No!

Concentrate on HOW he markets, now WHAT he markets. There's a much bigger lesson there.
I've never really followed him. Do most Warriors find this type of marketing to be a bit annoying? I find it to be a bit overkill.

SolXdier I am in total agreement, I was getting spammed almost 6 times a day from him. Then I finally went to my gmail account and sorted all of his mailed and it was like 450 or something crazy. IMMEDIATE UNSUBSCRIBE:p

How strong do you think this guys relationship is with his list? Does he have a blog.

I'd unsubscribe in a heartbeat if that's what my inbox looked like, fwiw.

The Whole 2.0 stuff is crap,

just like ....what is web 2.0?????

It means nothing, it's a name that got stuck to something with no real definition.

I agree, study how he sells not what.

It's a broad umbrella term. There IS a clear and distinct different between "Web 1.0" and "Web 2.0" though....

Well the lessons with the big "Gurus" is always the marketing behind the marketing. That is the only reason I stay on the list just to see what they do.

The production on the last launch was excellent... they have taken the product launch to a new level as they usually do.

However... I do have to call B.S. on this one. If you sell a $2000 product about supposedly using "a new type of affiliate marketing" then I expect you to back it up.

Michel Fortin has an interesting blog post that speaks about this and how "they" market things. Definitely worth a read...

I see a lot of people say this, and IMO you are wasting your time.

They are big only because their reach is big..... and their reach is big only because they were able to get big affiliates.... and to get big affiliates you need to be accepted into the club (aka "the syndicate" as some people now call it).

It is less about the quality of what they do and more about the massive amounts of s--- they are able to throw at the wall using each others email lists and some of it is bound to stick.

I have to give Mike and Chris credit for the production value of their launch.... without a doubt the video and presentation quality is top notch... that is where they put there energy and that is why their marketing works... it gives the appearance of something new.... the packaging is new, shiny, and bright... and that is why it works.

The facebook integration of the comments is very smooth also...

But I agree with you in the end you have a huge JV group who just pounds their lists and the law of large numbers makes them all rich.

He does have a blog. Good Alexa ranking as well, probably gets good traffic. I believe he has a good loyal foundation, but probably a high unsubscribe rate as well with that kind of spamming.

      Exactly, Danny.
Watching that launch happen from start to finish was a huge lesson, and to give credit where credit is due, it's one that Mike and Chris executed brilliantly.

Wow! That is intense! I mailed my subscribers 4x in 1 week once and you would of thought I'd committed some sort of serious crime from the emails and complaints I received! My list can't handle mails that frequently, and I would of thought that sending one "3 hour only" / "coupon" / "last chance" email after another would be soooo see-through...

..not to mention that IM people are subscribed to a lot more lists usually, so are you guys getting 40x emails a day from different marketers?... crazy!

I guess the IM market is different and can handle (works better) on more frequent emails compared to self help markets?

Not only did I get those, I also got the ones from all of the OTHER people selling this launch. Most of them had the exact same headlines as Mike's. At least the Tony Robbins ones were different and he added a little personal note in his.

Want the secret on affiliate marketing 2.0?
    Here it is:
Stop using the phrase "back door". Instead, use "side door".
Stop using the words "recurring", "revshare", "residual", and "continuity". Instead, say "serial cycle".

    There. All done.

<link removed as newbie cannot post links yet>

As others have said - looks like nothing different at all. just a sell sell sell approach.
I am on the list of a couple of marketers who claim that the more frequently you mail your list to start with the better you 'train' them to be responsive.

This guy also talks about relationship marketing. But the fact I am on several different databases of his (under SAME email address) does NOT seem to penetrate his systems intelligence.

Judge on what they do not what they say

I suppose if one wanted to be generous then one could consider 'relationship' as meaning 'providing as many freebies as possible'.

And Mike does seem to have a few freebies in that list.
My guy to give him his credit DOES provide loads of free ebooks and reports and other freebie resources. Yes most have an upsell into something BUT many are of intrinsic value.

The worst of it is that when promoting so many different products it has to be clear that the vendor CANNOT have tried or tested all the products they are recommending. So what kind of relationship care is that?

A couple of things I bought into recently I got refunded on.
I would have hoped that the recommender would be concerned that recommending a rubbish product would damage THEIR reputation.
But I worry that they only care about the sales percentage that sticks in their commissions. Perhaps I should ask...

Your picture shows that he sends a message every day (Except the 23rd), and occasionally sends multiple messages in a single day. Next thing I noticed was his spelling/grammar, or lack thereof.
I am sorry if this person is a member here, but you have to have respect for the people on your marketing list. Not only would I unsubscribe to his list, but I would go through each of his emails and mark each of them as Spam towards Google. If enough messages are marked as spam, it could help raise a red flag against his outright disrespect, and have him marked as the spammer that he appears to be.

If you want to earn some respect for your list... Send them a friendly email letting them know how to subscribe to your RSS feed, or send them a SHORT notice that you have posted some interesting content on your website. But, make sure this content is helpful, not just another sales pitch to the masses. You have to give in order to receive. So give your readers what they want, and they will learn to trust you, and you will find that your CTR increases, and your sales will rise as well.

While I do agree that all he does is sell, sell, sell...I don't agree with
marking his emails as spam. If you opted into his list, it's not spam
and it wouldn't be fair to flag it as such. If you don't want his emails,
      simply unsubscribe.

I'm not defending his emails, I'm on at least a couple of his lists and I
get at least 2-4 emails from him every day (which I find quite annoying)
and have gotten zero value from them. BUT I opted in at some point so
marking them as spam is not right.

I stay subscribed just to observe what he does.

        Yep, that's a d*ck move right there.

And kind of pointless anyhow since all of his emails already land in the spam folder.
