Clickbank affiliates, do they find you?

This has been bothering me for some time now and I can't seem
to find the answer to my questions, so I'm turning to you people

Let's say you have a info product, it's a product priced at 67 bucks
and the commission it 75%
You have created a easy access to bunch of high quality promo
tools including follow up emails, banners, keywords, ads and etc...
Just this regular good looking promo page many of the clickbank
affiliates have already.

My question is, without trying to find clickbank affiliates promoting
stuff in your niche! is it possible to actually recruit affiliates just by
submitting your info product to clickbank?

Maybe people have had mixed results with this but I'm just curious
if submitting your product to clickbank with out promoting your
product affiliate program is worth doing?

    The short answer is no.

The long answer is you have to work your tail off to get affiliates.

There are too many products in the marketplace to compete with. The only
way to get affiliates is either...

    1. Sell so many of your product that it reaches the top of the marketplace
charts...in which case you wouldn't need affiliates anyway.

    2. Recruit them like you would try to sell your product or membership or
    whatever.

Just putting your product up there isn't going to do a thing.

Getting to the top depends on a number of factors, a key one
being the number of distinct affiliates selling your
product. So, unless you sign up and sell using different
account names this is not possible.

Well yeah, that's one of the tricks we use Harvey.

Just don't tell anybody cause it might catch on.

      This is spot on Steven,

I did not really go out recruiting affiliates although as a few of my products started to sell well through the promotions that I was doing I found that more and more affiliates came along.

You either need to recruit them to sell for you, or sell your product yourself well and then affiliates will catch on.

      All the best

I once put a product up, wrote a catchy description that showed on the marketplace listing and got around 15 affiliates promoting my product...

    It would say it's possible

    Ebbi,

    Actually, it depends.

There's definitely exposure from being listed on CB.

But your conversions and visibility in the marketplace are big factors in HOW MANY affiliates will find you.

However, there's thousands of affiliates who search for new products daily looking for an early run at profits.

And all it takes is one capable affiliate with a well-converting offer...

    -Chris

P.S. Combine this with factor with the visibility and results of your own efforts, and by actively recruiting affiliates by showing them your own conversions.

Clickbank is a very powerful front-end business builder.

This is about what I imagined to be. I suppose also offering a
product in a niche that's not to crowded would increase the
chance of affiliates picking up your product... but then again
there has to be a market for it

There are so many factors you have to consider before joining
clickbank if you want to do it the right way.

Thanks for your comments guy's.. I really appreciate them!

I pick my products by the Niche I am looking to promote at the time. I have been contacted by a number of people looking to get affiliates.

But, I stick to what I am working on at the time. I go to Clickbank, type in my keywords, & then sign up for what I think will sell to my group.

So, yes, just listing can get you Affiliates.

But, as Steve stated, you have to actively SELL your Affiliate Program to get a good result. That is what a lot of people don't realize.

As an affiliate, I'd just like to say that finding affiliate products to promote is often just as hard.

I run my own list, which is why I am particularly committed to offering only quality content. If I try to peddle junk even once, it'll come back to haunt me.

As a result, I end up sticking to products that I know from experience are worth buying - and, more often than not, it's usually the Top 5 gravity products as shown by CB Engine.

In turn, this means that anyone with a new product will get left out, simply because I'd rather avoid risking my subscribers by promoting to them a product I haven't heard about. In other words, the owner of the product will have to work twice as hard to get me on board.

If it's of any help, I usually sign up to the mailing list of all major merchants in the industry where I work, and I tend to go by what they promote. For example, if, say, Mike Filsaime promotes product A that I haven't heard of before, I will at least take a look at it.

George, I agree - but the problem is, you're always running the risk of promoting a product that doesn't turn out to be all that great after all. And because I only have around 500 people on my list, I am not yet in a position to ask for review copies.

I agree, though, new unknown products can be the way to go, since it also allows you to e-mail your list with an offer advertising a sparkling new product, thus increasing the perceived value of your mailings.

A decent gravity score does attract some affiliates, and there are methods and scripts out there that can help to build your gravity - without affiliates.

Also if you do a little searching - there are clickbank forums out there that have affiliates that are constantly looking for new products to promote. I've had my best results just by announcing any of my new products to the clickank forums.

With that being said - the most important factor in getting affiliates - is the sellability of your product. Your product has to convert. If you can't sell any of your product yourself, it's hard to expect anyone else to do it.

      Very interesting!!
When you say it... Of course there are clickbank forums out there
with affiliates looking for new products. I didn't even thing about
      that!

Also would the tools you are referring to be marked as blackhat
tools or are they not against the TOS at clickbank?

ClickBank is a very small part of my business. If you merely put up a product at CB and don't promote it, you have this wee chance of a lucky break where some super-aff runs with it. But it really is a crapshoot, and not a way to base a successful business.

Instead, use CB as one stream of income. You can use it for your affiliates, but go out and actively get your own. Especially, turn your customers into affiliates.

          Thanks for sharing Kevin,

I understand and I was never about to trust clickbank for my success!
As you said, this would only become a part of the income and of course
I would market the product my self. I'm not about to launch a CB product
but I might in the future and it's good to know as much as possible for
          when the time comes.

The reason I asked this question is because I was able to see the possibility
that your product could get picked up by affiliates if you had some good
promo tools and a well written sales letter in a rather small niche.

There are some blackhat tools I'm sure, but the tools I use are all perfectly legal, and within Clickbank's TOS. I have a script below in my signature that I use, and all it does is to help automate the "multiple account" process as mentioned here by others.

      Well said that man!

I was going to add something to say that simply submitting the product to Clickbank can't do any harm, as some people may find it, but I think you need to target people to sell it for you.

An idea I had to get people onboard might be to give them a free copy. I haven't seen many people who offer affiliate promotion actually giving the affiliate the product first. What have you got to lose by trying this on some people.

Clickbank is quite a puzzle. There are many factors which determine your product's visibility and affiliates' interest. For getting a better response from affiliates try the following:
    1) Promote your product on your own (some people create another account with CB and promote their own product... DON'T DO IT). As the number of hops to your site increases, your 'popularity' on CB for your two chosen categories will increase, which is a MAJOR factor for some affiliates trying to choose a product to promote.

    2) Make it a point to have the affiliate's area on your site as helpful as possible. Make a special 'Area' for affiliates (like you made a members area for your customers)

    3) Try to put a convincing line in your Marketplace listing, with a line about the product, conversion stats and affiliate url. Make it easy to read. Some thing like : 'Affiliates Join. Huge Profits. Amazing conversions. Do join us, Affiliates.' - WONT WORK. (but, very rarely it does)

    4) Try to follow an affiliate recruiting process Initially. Its very important. The more number of affiliates promoting your product, the more your GRAVITY.. Hence, even more affiliates join you..

Wishing you all the best Ebbi...

I am not clear on this

      - Why would the number of hops affect your ranking ?

      - And how would they increase if you are promoting your product
'on your own' ie. without an affiliate link ?

What I meant was : A person needs to promote the product to their affiliates on their own rather than wasting time selling their product through their multiple affiliate links. Time is important you see..
    The factors determining popularity are:
    1) Commissions per sale : Dependent on vendor
    2) % Commissions per sale : Dependent on Vendor
    3) Gravity: THIS basically will shoot up your rankings.. The more you promote your product to find your affiliates... more number of affiliates will join you.. more sales happen via unique affiliates.. more gravity.
    4) %referred: I would take back my earlier point and would like to correct it. Create ONE affiliate account (not multiple) and promote your product. Hence, your % referred won't be affected by the sales from that hoplink

    Hope that helps

I just launched my product (see my sig file) last week. It was listed on the marketplace yesterday and I notice that 6 separate affiliates have already sent at least one visitor to me. I got one affiliate sale out of it. I have no idea how these guys found my product, but I'm hoping that the quality of my landing page helped inspire confidence.
