What exactly happens when you submit a site to ping-o-matic?

I don't really understand what pinging does

    Ping-o-Matic - when you look at that list of place it Pings. All it is doing is sending a notice/alert to all of those places that you updated your blog/site.

    It creates attention and hopefully gets your blog noticed.

    Pinging is one of the many "things" to do in cyberspace to get noticed.

    Completely agree with WilliamBerg, if you use it too much you run the risk of your blog getting blacklisted for spamming etc, it can have the reverse effect on your site!
