Article Marketing Keyword Research Question

Hi Warriors,

I am curious of what some general considerations are for keyword research as it relates to article marketing - when the article is being submitted to and posted on a high page ranking & low Alexa ranking site such as ezinearticles.

Since such authority sites usually rank high for keywords does that mean that I can effectively compete for keywords which are more competitive?

If so, what are some of the guidelines & limits to consider when going for more competitve keywords?

Kind regards,

Randall

Keyword research for ezinearticles, my views

monthly searches on google keyword tool - no less than 500
travis traffic top 10 sites for your keyword - no more than 10 green ticks in the title, desc, h1 column
minimum 3 websites with less than 50 backlinks to page
total up the pagerank column - no more than 30.

Despite what you've read you'll still need to send some backlinks to your ezine article. I use incansoft rssbot and socialbot for this. Without backlinks you may get lucky but your chances of ranking in the top 10 are greatly reduced.

If you do go for more competitive keywords you'll need more backlinks. Check out warrior 'zeus66' for more info on article marketing

It generally doesn't mean you can compete for tougher keywords. Your page on ezinearticles still starts out with pagerank 0. It will get a boost because of the sites general pagerank and popularity.

You can always give it a try. That's usually the best option... because it's possible other people competing in your market may not be directly targeting the keyword you are, meaning you might be able to outrank them with an ezinearticle page.

But you'll generally notice that if a search term has an ezinearticle in the top 10 it's not a highly competitive keyword so sites with a pagerank of 3 or 4 can come in and take that spot fairly easy if they targeted it specifically.

That's a good question but you need to take into consideration the authority of the competition etc as well of course. Personally I do the same type of keyword research (more or less) for articles to post to EZA as I do with my other stuff. You can build links to your EZA articles as well, remember, to improve their posibillities of ranking well
