Outsourcing Advice To My Student (Thought You May Like It Too)

Hey Warriors,

I just got an email from a student of mine and I thought what I shared with him would be useful to everyone here when it comes to outsourcing.

When people look at outsourcing they see that they can have someone else do all the work in there business.

This is true, but there are a few steps to get there.

Myth #1 - You can outsource your business on autopilot from day 1.

This is complete BS, each business has its own groove and you have to work with the outsource person to make sure they fit your company and how it works. Also remember everyone has to report to someone, so your going to have to spend time making tasks and checking work of your employee. You will have to hire managers to do that work, to auto pilot a few steps away.

Myth #2 - Outsourcing will make my business sky rocket

Outsourcing is a catalyst to your business. If will make it go faster in the direction it was going before outsourcing. If your business was moving up, yes it can sky rocket from proper outsource implementations.

If your business is burning through money, outsource will help that
If your business is disorganized, outsource will make it more kaos.
If your business is growing 10% a year for 4 years, then outsourcing will help that go fast

For anyone thinking of outsourcing or think that it can be complete auto pilot, well it can be, but there are some heavy time investment steps to take.

Cheers
Mukul

    Hi Mukul,

I reviewed another WSO about outsourcing later this week and told the creator that he might have mine for free, but that I would not be able to leave an honest testimonial without harming his WSO and therefore decided not to do it.

His WSO sounded kind off "start with outsourcing and everything will be fine". You are totally right! I have had quite a share of BAD experiences with freelancers and outsourcers. Actually I am just finishing a friends website, where I helped him to find a freelancer in a country in South Asia. Totally waste of time and money for sure.

@All: Get Mukuls guide mentioned in his sig and do your homework first! You CAN safe your time with outsourcing, but there is NO garantuee. Also we both share the same opinion that you better know what you want to outsource, because you otherwise would not know what the expected output should look like. Sorry for that, haha.

    Cheers

One mistake a lot of people make is that they expect the outsourcer to know exactly what their talking about.

Some people do not make it very clear, and some people don't understand what the employer wants properly, resulting in terrible experiences.

If you want to outsource, don't be an a-hole, but make it very clear your expectations of the project.

Thanks for the plug, was not my intention, it was to share something I just emailed someone as people get it wrong.

I dont even call it bad experience, I consider it not jumping into stuff without your fundamentals.

This is very true Dean. Here is what I do
      - Make a video (so not they know what I am talking about)
      - Show them a finish product (do one and short it, so they know what I want).

This has reduced my training time by a lot (Now I need to do the process once, but honestly that is GREAT since I often realize small details). Example ok go and do this. Oh wait, they did not have a set of keywords to put in there.

      Cheers
