Is it possible to make money online without some sort of involvement in network or multi level marketing? It seems to me that a large number of people are involved in network or multi level marketing to some extent, to some of them its a side venture and to others its their primary or only income stream.

    I can only talk about our own online biz, and that's all it is, our own biz, selling our own product, not connected in any way to anyone else. It does work, it takes time to get your name out there and make some sales. Our sales are slowly increasing and we are being patient. Rome wasnt built in a day :-)

    Of course. There are many ways to make money online. But there is no magic bullet. Just like an offline business you need to understand your customers, what they are looking for and how to market & sell.

    Offline/online, you need to develop the same balanced business sense, then work hard to see the business through. Too many people spend a few hours or days building a site, then more or less sit back and wait for the bucks to just roll in. If it were that easy then we'd all be millionaires by now!

    Jon, the forum is full of people making their livings online.

    Very, very few of them have ever had anything to do with network marketing or MLM at all.

    Yes, It is possible, but as in any other business you need to put a lot of effort, hard work and get the basic covered (get clients, manage your money and with time manage people), now many people are in the MLM and the internet, because they "have heard" that you can get leads from there, so they are just bidding higher and higher for the same keywords.

    Any way, what you should do is start creating a list of people interesting in a topic you are interested too, hope you start getting action

    It's very possible. But at some point of time when your business gets big, you might want to outsource it and this requires communication.

    Its possible for most businesses but its clear that being a part of a large network can make much more money for you with less work. If you are going to start an online business alone, you should be aware that you should work a lot to promote your website and earn money from it.

    In fact many people stay away from MLM and pyramid schemes, as many I have come across are not worth the effort. Check out this forum as you will come across a lot of money making projects for online work with high and low investments needed.

      Now that sounds as if you consider those two things as being the same.

      Although I am not in any MLM type of business, it should be noted that MLM is a legitimate business model while pyramid schemes are just that - schemes. And they are illegal in most civilized countries

    If network or multi-level marketing was the only option for making money online, I would not have an online business...

    I tried that, and found neither suited my personality...

    I have been working full-time online since March of 2005, so yes it is possible to make money without both...

    And most people I know online who do make money do neither also...

    MLM? I'd rather wake up in my own vomit. No offense to those who actually do wake up in their own vomit.

    Lots of us make a good living online and have no involvement in MLM / network marketing. I know far more IM'rs who don't do MLM than do. Seems like a rough way to go.
