there are a couple products on CB that I want to promote, but I would get to get a copy for free to review and go through so it would help me create a better landing page to promote the product.

So my question is... What should I say in the email to ask for a review copy so it sounds professional?

Any help would be great, thanks

You should explain as many of the following as you reasonably and honestly can in a positive light (you won't need all of them):-

    (i) Your Clickbank (and/or other) affiliate marketing experience

    (ii) Your success-level (vaguely)

(iii) Why their product may be relevant to your existing lists, and/or why you were particularly trying to find a product (or "another product") in that niche

(iv) Your knowledge/experience of that niche

    (v) The domain-names you already own in that niche some of which you'd propose to use for marketing their product

(vi) All your potential promotional plans, in as much detail as possible (not just meaningless stuff like "article marketing" and "PPC marketing" that anyone can say without really knowing the first thing about it)

(vii) Anything independently verifiable about yourself which you can show them (links) so that they can see for themselves who you are and that you're a serious affiliate

(viii) Your eagerness to get going, and that you're looking forward to a mutually profitable association with them

(ix) it's also good to ask two or three specific and appropriate questions about their product and its market, but questions which show that you've "thought it through and know what you're talking about" - something they might not expect just "any old affiliate" to have thought about: don't hesitate to ask their advice, but not about something which might make them think you ought to know it already (requires some judgment).

If you don't get a reply at all, then my advice is to drop the product completely and forget it: if a vendor won't reply to a serious email from a potential business associate, then you can imagine what his after-sales response-rate will be once someone's bought, and your customers deserve better.

If you get a reply saying "no, sorry, because ..." (which can happen), then don't hesitate to buy it through your own affiliate-link, if you're still interested in promoting it. This is totally legitimate and is specifically, expressly permitted by Clickbank, and (contrary to what some ill-informed folk will tell you) you don't need the vendor's permission to do it.

PS - The "gravity" has absolutely nothing at all to do with it, and in any case a high gravity figure is no indication at all that the product's selling well, as explained, discussed and illustrated here so fully in dozens of other threads.

I added a "Thank You" for your post but wanted to reply that I really appreciate your information. I have been compiling a list of potential products to promote on Clickbank; however, I will not endorse anything that I don't personally review (unlike the members of our Congress here in the US--LOL)...couldn't resist throwing that one in.

Actually, why not purchase the product yourself? Clickbank product doesn't cost much. If it's something you think you would not want to promote, then just ask for a refund. If it's something you want, 27-47 bucks won't harm.

WSO: I PROMISE/GUARANTEE you that this will be the LAST WSO you will ever need to purchase!

Here's the thing. The above may seem too good to be true but all I can say is there isn't even 1% hype or BS in the above sentence. This WILL BE YOUR LAST WSO to purchase.

It's really unfair to vendors to buy their products for this purpose and then ask for a refund if you don't want to promote it.

If I were a vendor, I'd be very unhappy indeed about affiliates doing that. It affects their trading-history and credibility with Clickbank, which in turn can affect the pricing of their future products, and so on.

It's much fairer and more reasonable simply to buy them (if necessary, when you can't get a "review copy") through your own affiliate link, and chalk it up to experience if it turns out you don't want to promote them after all.

If you're buying as a potential affiliate for the product, and wish to assess it on that basis, you're buying for a different reason from that of "a normal customer". If you assess the product and decide not to promote it, the product has still fulfilled the purpose for which you bought it, i.e. you have made your assessment of it. I think it's unfair and unreasonable to expect a refund under these circumstances, and I wouldn't dream of asking for one.

Just say you are considering promoting their product and would like to review the product for yourself. Most will be happy to give you a review copy.

Most vendors won't offer you a review copy unless you were invited to review one our you are an affiliate with a proven track record.

Remember professional marketers wouldn't ask for review copies. They would purchase it and write it off on their taxes as an expense.

Contacting a vendor to receive a review copy in my eyes is unprofessional.

I agree with Alexa, vendors can put a lot of money, effort and time into making their product asking for a refund in those circumstances would make you look very unprofessional.

I just buy products through my own link and if there no good and I dont want to promote them just refund it the first few clickbank products I promoted I think I just bought the product

The first product I promoted was in the fitness niche and I bought the product and it turned out to be really good and the review I wrote converts really well because its very detailed and totally honest. Then when I knew it converted through article marketing and other free methods of driving traffic to it I bought advertising with Google sending traffic to the review with keywors like "product name review" "honest product name review" works like a dream the keywords tend to be expensive and competative but if the page already converts these keywords are very targeted thats defo the way I would go if just starting out

    John,

If a vendor will not give you a review copy AND if you buy it and it's a bad product, then: 1) Would you keep it? and 2) Why would you promote it?

I don't feel I can give a totally HONEST (and credible) review of a product unless I have actually PURCHASED the product myself....

    But, that's just me!

This may apply to "reviewing someone's WSO" or something. I can't see it applying to deciding to promote a Clickbank product. You're not going to do that if you don't really like it, are you? Not when there are 12,000+ others to choose from?

No, of course not. Right, I wouldn't promote anything unless I felt it was well worth it.

Alexa gives some good info above, I would either follow that, but I would also argue to just keep it simple and short - half the reason you might not get a response is if you write too much (too much to read) or ask other questions too - it is a shame but vendors are notorious for not responding, so keep it short and simple:

who you are, what your site is, and any track record of success / sales you have.
