PLEASE help, have looked ALL day for answer. Market Samurai/Google Question.

I really hope someone answers this because it is the difference between me buying or not buying this product. I am so frustrated. I would appreciate any help. I feel like I have wasted tons of time.

Ok, let's use this word "thrifty" just as an example. (I have had this problem with most other searches).

Market Samurai-
Daily Searches (broad)- 40,110
Daily Searches (exact)- 4, 438 (multiply by 30 would be 133,000 month)

Google Adwords

Global Monthly Searches- 450,000
EXACT Searches- 40,500

So, Market Samurai says an exact search would be 133,000 a month or 4438 daily, while Google says 40,500 exact searches a month.

I PROMISE that is the correct input I inserted. Why is the exact search COMPLETELY different?

I'm assuming that you already know the search volumes showing on google are monthly volumes, and the ones in Samurai are daily?

That is why I calculated the numbers above to equal monthly. Unless I am just completely confused about numbers. I am a newby, so it is possible. Refer to the number difference above. Why are the numbers so different?

it looks like market samurai is pulling numbers from the old adwords interface.

if you do your search there the numbers match up.

why the numbers are so different from the old tool to the new tool I don't know.

You can get to the old interface here:

I just noticed that too!!! Thanks for replying!!! I just called my husband in here because I'm like "why is it doing this?!?".

So are the new numbers accurate? I heard something about Google doing something recently...not sure what I am talking about though.

Ok, So if you use Market Samurai, and the OCI tool gives a 100% commercial intent, but there is NO search volume, does this mean there is NO searches for those terms? I am confused, as how does BING (Microsoft or etc) pull the OCI data if NO searches are being completed.

Yes, I am new here, so hopefully this isn't redundant.

    Thanks

    Chas

Brent Hodgson from Noble Samurai posted on another forum this long explanation of the different G tools and how and why MS uses the tool that it does.

An "Exact" count is the keywords in the perfect order that you are writing them in. For example, an exact/month for "Purple Green Red" would be exactly that.
But, a Broad search looks for the words you have typed in any order, and with any words in between them. So searching for Purple Green Red in a broad search could include searches for The Red blah blah turned Green blah blah, then became Purple.

The more words you add to your keyphrase, the more it effects the broad search count.

Take it from us that have been doing this for years - dont sweat it over the traffic numbers, they're rarely accurate.

This is one of the most frustrating aspects of keyword research tools... none of them match. Rarely do they even come close.

Your post reminded me of just how frustrated I was when I first discovered this. And then I realized that although I never came up with a mathematical formula which explains and reconciles the different results, I also just stopped worrying about it somewhere along the way.

Experience will teach you what you can generally come to expect given the numbers the various tools gve you, even if they don't match up.

Even if the exact numbers do not match up, hopefully the trends generally do... a keyword phrase which shows as having a ton of traffic should do so across all good tools, regardless of the exact number of searches they report. Same for a low traffic keyword.

The truth is you will never get definitive answers out of a research tool, just some suggestions for where to start. They you have to test and adjust based on the real world results you get.

No I would rather trust Market Samurai over Google any day. Market Samurai pulls its data from multiple sources were as Google has its own data but are they inflating the data to increase competition in a particular area?

Who knows, but I always look to Market Samurai to give me a good indication of whats going on in a niche... (i.e. competition, backlinks to a website, tracking, etc...)

Mike, according to Noble Samurai themselves they pull data from the "legacy" Google adwords tool, and nowhere else, not multiple sources.

    I have the same problem.

I just got ranked for "spyware blockers" on the old KW tool it says this keyword gets 4 million searches EXACT a month.

So I went crazy on SEO and finally got it on page 1.

I then check the Beta KW tool and it says for exact searches it gets 3600 a month!

    WHAT THE!?

I haven't received any real increase in traffic for this keyword.

    MAN ALL THAT TIME WASTED!
