Dropshipping-Who Is Having Problems?

Ok, I really want to know who is having problems dropshipping. Many have tried and many have succeeded. BUT, many have failed and continue to fail. So, this thread is dedicated to all of those out there who just don't know where to begin and to those who are stuck at a certain point in the process.

First, I would like to say that drop shipping is not that hard to do and it can be a lucrative endeavor. The hardest thing about drop shipping is finding a really good distributor.

Remember this to all those out there...Drop shipping is not about finding the Dobas, Salehoos, and World Wide Brands out there. Those companies use mainly middlemen that front as drop shippers.

A TRUE drop shipper will never, EVER, EVER, EVER put their prices on a website for everyone to see.

WHY...Because that defeats the purpose of drop shipping. A "wholesaler" is nothing more than a middleman. To get the best deal you need to find a DISTRIBUTOR.

Why didn't I say MANUFACTURER...because unless you are purchasing at a level that Best Buy or Walmart is purchasing at then they do not want to deal with you. It is a waste of their time to drop ship one item at a time for you and also give you the same price as if you purchased $100,000 worth of inventory. Manufacturers always insist that you have a MOQ (minimum order quantity).

Problem...most individuals do not have this type pf purchasing power.

Which is why you go to the next step the distributor. The distributor will give you the next best price to the manufacturer. And it will be very profitable for you to get on with them.

NEXT... Like stated above your distributors will not have their prices on the screen for you to see and go into what I like to call "information overload". Checking and rechecking on the web against Google Shopping:rolleyes: for the lowest price.

Most of the time they will require you to pay a ONE TIME APPLICATION FEE. Notice I did not say a monthly fee. That is ridiculous. PAY IT....Why it will give you access to the main supplier. Why do you want 1,000 + suppliers, that just makes it impossible to once again find out who will give you the best deal, once again taking chances with returns, pricing, inventory, etc. One good supplier is all you need. Plus most of the time they have a phone number that you can call to get guided assistance if you require it.

NEVER buy from those China suppliers that you will see on DHGate, Alibaba, Tradekey, Made-In-China.Com etc.

SOME, maybe ok, but most are scam artists that will steal the shirt off your back if the have the chance to. WHY do most require you to pay with MONEYGRAM, WESTERN UNION, etc. The reason is that $1,000.00 is equivalent to one YEARS salary for them. And you can bet they are laughing all te way to the bank. Meanwhile, you are sitting there waiting for your products to come hoping, PRAYING TO GOD THAT it is what you ordered so that you can get your funds released from Pay Pal in time. So that your customer doesn't give you negative feedback on your ebay account.

I have been there and done that. LOST OVER $11,000 in hard earned cash to find out the information that I am passing out to you now.

I am doing this, because that was almost my life's savings. I was in tears people. I had ordered a boat load of iphone 3gs when they came out. Only to be taken to the cleaners. The company that I ordered from sent me some LAME version of the iphone called the "I9"...TRASH. Fake Apple logo and everything.

If it is in my power to prevent this from happening I MUST tell my story. I wished I could have kicked their F&#%ing teeth in, with steel toed boots.
.

So, if you really want to drop ship for ebay, e-crater, craigslist, Amazon, or whatever platform. Post questions, PM me, email or whatever you need. Just remember this, drop shipping works. THE ONLY POINT OF FAILURE IS YOUR SUPPLIER.

And please this is not a rant, debate, or FLAME session. BECAUSE, I tell you now,.... I....GET....PAID... This is for those that really truly need a helping hand. So, lets keep the bickering to a minimum and help out your fellow man and woman. We are all here for the same thing RIGHT....

I'm very glad for this information, it really helps. I'm about to enter this drop shipping market. I've tried to sign up for a 7 day trial at Doba. But my country isn't represented in the list so it seems like I can't use this trial, or use Doba at all if it's only available to some countries. But if so, maybe there's nothing to be sorry about if they're not real drop shippers.

I've been trying to search for my niche and the word drop shipping. Could you give me some tips in how to get in touch with the right distributor for my niche? The most obvious would be for me to search for it in Google, but I think it's hard to find drop shippers when doing Google search. Maybe I'm searching the wrong way.

    First off all:
Should I search for "Drop shippers" or Dropshipper"? I mean with space or without?
What's the grammatical right thing here? So I would either enter "niche drop shippers" or "niche dropshippers". Where "niche" is my niche of choice. Or should I search for "Drop shipping" instead of "Drop Shippers"?

This maybe obvious to some people, but this is not my native language, so I have a slight problem in bending the words right when doing a search.

    Second:
Since you've mentioned "...middlemen that front as drop shippers". How do I search for a real drop shipper? Could it be a good idea to search for "niche drop shipper distributor".

    In overall:
What search would get me the most targeted results?

Its true and i agree you. These are two real points and they are my problem two for knowing drop shippers. But i don't know any one can give a perfect solution for them.

I don't know what niche you are trying to target, so send me a PM ok? I know you don't want to broadcast your secrets.

About the correct spellings of dropship, drop ship (+ niche) etc. Each will yield you a different set of results. However, if you focus on the first 3 pages of each spelling the results are more or less the same.

It is a matter of searching at that point. See, some websites will focus on including only one version of drop ship. "Some", may consider themselves drop shippers, "some," may consider themselves a drop shipping company. What they have decided to include in their meta tags, content, descriptions etc and how many times it's included. Will determine what results you receive and the order that they appear.

Also, note this, not always, but sometimes the companies you will find in the first 3 pages receive quit a bit of traffic, probably have grown over the years and may not offer you the best deal or arrangement. I would also try calling/ emailing 2 or 3 companies on the 30th, 40th pages etc. They generally receive less traffic and may be more willing to cut you a good deal.

And yes I think it is a good ideal to search "niche drop shipper(dropshipper) distributor".

How do I know if I find a "mainly middlemen that front as drop shippers" or a "Distributor". How will I know the difference?

Of course if I contact the manufacturer, then they might lead me to the right drop shipper, I guess. It looks that the research to find a good drop shipper will not be over in one day. It may take some times, I guess.

And yes, if I would reveal my niche/niches everybody would jump on those niches =)

In reality, everyone except the manufacturer is a middle-man, and they each ad a percentage to the cost. Most manufacturers are interested in running machines and production workers in China. They are not interested in working with Ebay/Amazon sellers. Many manufacturers have a USA "representative" who is a middle-man, selling their products wholesale, some of these will drop-ship. They may say they are the manufacturer, but they really aren't, though sometimes the manufacturing company will be part-owner. They are still middle-men..

I have had good success with a "middle-man" dropship supplier of womens shoes. They charge a small markup to pay for their service, but they know the value of quick delivery and not being back-ordered. You really need that for a high Ebay feedback score! I doubt a manufacturer in China would care about your feedback score.. You need a middle-man..

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

There are manufacturers who dropship. You just have to know the right niche to deal with.

London is correct some manufacturers will drop ship. If, they are a small manufacturer.i.e a small specialty auto parts maker, antique clock maker, hand made furniture etc. Usually making a few units per day. They are a manufacturer, but they don't make enough units to necessitate a distributor. Usually the person you speak with also knows everyone in the manufacturing process. They will probably drop ship for you.

If you are trying to sell mass produced consumer goods.i.e ipods, cameras, toys, clothing, power drills, etc. A manufacturer that is capable of producing 5,000 to 10,000 units per day or week then. I can almost guarantee they will not drop ship for you. They will refer you to a distributor.

For example Apple. They will under no circumstances drop ship anything for you, but they will refer you to a distributor in your area. That may do it, but they will also refer you to a reseller.. Been there done that too. The size of the company will determine where you fall in the chain.

    Stay away from Doba.

I tried to sign up for their 7 day trial, but when the pricing screen came up at the end I said forget it and went elsewhere.

Since then I have gotten 10 emails and 3(!) phone calls offering to help me complete my signup for Doba!

    Hi there Recession_Proof,

If you wouldn't mind I would like to pick your brain for some help with getting started with drop shipping on ebay. I have searched time and time and time again on ebay using numerous phrases and versions of "dropshipping", but I still can't find a single company not trying to rip me off. I use 'rip off report' .com as my source to judge companies.

If you could help me get started that would be great.

    Thank You,
    Jeff K.

P.S. I would have PM'd you but currently I only have 44 post on here.

Last year I made dropshipping and I make money, but the main purpose of it was not to make money with the sales in the front end (and I made it), but to build a very good targeted list with buyers in several niches.

I build 5 different list on different niches and now I'm making money on a daily basis with it, I really think the work worth the effort.

Actually I'm thinking in create a report about how I do it.

I agree with those above. I've personally know Chris Malta of WorldWideBrands for nearly a decade. Very honest, trustworthy, and has a great product.

They have a membership where you can find just about anything you want and have it dropshipped.

Just be sure to check eBay "street prices" against the wholesale price.

Also, pick odd-ball , non-commodity items so lessen your competition.

Another great source is to look for manufacturers and distributors directly at
    ThomasNet.com

I've sold over 1500 refurbished dropshipped dehumidifiers on eBay. My source wasn't on anyone's list. I had to explain the concept of dropshipping to him! LOL :-)

The result so I had no competition and made a KILLING.

Refurbished, scratched & dented, even broken items sell VERY well on eBay.
You can try finding local companies that get customer returns that are missing a screw, scratched, or has some other minor problem that doesn't affect the functioning of the item. For example, my brother picked up a bunch of scratched electrical panels from a company that couldn't sell them to their professional electricians, but for the do-it-yourselfer home guy they were perfect!

You gotta be VERY careful about back-orders on eBay. That's when you sell the item but then your supplier is out of stock! ACK!! That's a scary thing. Check out the ebook called "12 Killer Dropship SECRETS For eBay Sellers". It's a classic "street smart" ebook on how to avoid the common problems with dropshipping

    Hello Mikee17,

you say that you have selling 1500 refurbished dropshipped dehumidifiers.

In which time you have all the itens selling?

    1500 in one month?
Ore in one year, also 100-120 every month on ebay?

Cause, i have tested ebay for 3 months with erotic dresses, dessous, a big market in ebay.
I have mad a little shop with 150 erotic products.

But i have only made 20 sells ion one month, only pre paid, no paypal, so i had give it up.

I think, when you will make in your first month on ebay 500-1000 sells, you need 1-2 years, to sells 500-1000 items every month. This mean, that in 1-2 years the ebay visitors trust you.

    They not trust an newbie.

Or, i have heard an internet marketer, who says to me, that i must have many many products on ebay, the more products you have, the more sells you made, he said?? Is that true?

He means, you must have an ebay shop with 1000 products, 200-300 products always in auction, the rest in the shop, the you made 10% conversion every week, also 100 items selling every week???

    I can not believe this.

    with best wishes

I have stumbled into success in drop shipping almost by accident and not really pursuing it as a 'make money online' type thing. Since I've been aggressively attacking copywriting for the last year and a half- which has made a HUGE impact on this business- I've really just stuck to the one niche that works for me as it pertains to drop shipping. Vitamins, "nutriceuticals," supplements.

Long story short I worked for a pharma company for a while, developed relationships with manufacturers AND suppliers (who I use for what depends on the product, volume, etc as noted in this thread). Step one was already complete by default. Then once I realized the money on the table, just targeting the right buyers online, and even pushing over the phones (which oddly enough has worked too!).

If there is ONE THING in my experience that I can recommend in this arena it's cultivating and developing customer relationships to the point that they become an actual ACCOUNT and buy from nobody but you. That, of course, takes major work but at this point you can kiss eBay goodbye (if you want) and work direct. Before long you have a fine-tuned machine that has repeat orders on lock. Then if you really want to automate, outsource the account management - But only if you can truly TRUST your acc mgr. Don't go on Odesk and find someone who has good rankings... due diligence pays, don't expose income streams to threat.

I am curious, tho... What is the scoop on WorldWide Brands?

Anyone have experience, successes/failures working with them? It appears in this thread there's mixed feelings but no real background. Anyway, best of luck to everyone!

    -JG
