TV on PC software

I'm really not sure if this is the right place for this or not ?? If my thread needs to be moved please move it or tell me to move it and I will do so gladly.

I have software custom built for me (2 versions) of TV on PC software. I have all source code and of course the executable installable files. The problem is the databases of 'channels' are all outdated streams so there is really nothing of value unless I spend a lot of time which I don't currently have updating it.

I am wondering if there is value in selling the shell to people and letting them update the channels on their own ??

I also thought about a JV type of situation where I give a copy of the software to someone in exchange for a DB but the problem with that is if they have a DB they obviously have the software already most likely lol ..

What would you do ? I have a lot of money I invested in this years back, got burnt out on the industry ... Just now getting back into it and want to capitalize on the few assets I still have remaining. All in all I put over $1,000 into this because I have two versions. One fully working, 100 % operational even on Windows 7 and the other one which has a lot of additional features I had a programmer in the middle of working on and never finished it.

What would you do ?

    I wish - but this is just the program that you see all over the web stating 'watch 3500 channels from your pc' usually claiming they are satellite channels.

    Ryan, I would either spend a day (or more) updating the channels or pay somebody to do it - then put it out on the market. The shell with a bunch of outdated channels (or none) would have a very limited market IMHO.

    Yeah my thoughts too - But damn ... I have so limited time as it is

    I need to find someone who would take resell rights to build me a database and then have a product of their own. Suppose I could post it in JV section once I get enough posts. Think I am almost there.

    Hi,

    You'll either need to finish it, or find someone within the industry who would be willing to take over the project. (Most people would not have the technical skills or know how to update the rest of the project). Also, $1,000 would not be considered a huge sum for the type of product you are talking about.

    Also -- I am not sure what the demand for it would be, seeing as (a) there are tons of those types of 'tv-pc' products, and (b) most people download movies/complete t.v. series for free anyways, and (c) more and more major t.v. networks are starting to offer their content for free anyways (with paid advertising inserts).
