To sell or not to sell?

I have a site that is currently ranking on page one of Google for its targeted keyword of "making money ideas". A while ago it vanished out of the top pages after being hacked and it has taken a good month to sort it all out.

Since loosing the ranking for it after being hacked I realized that I just don't enjoy maintiaing that particular site and have put it on auto pilot (using wordpress direct for auto posting).

I am considering selling it. I problems with my muscles and due to the onsite of winter (I have needed to use a walking stick in cold weather since the age of 27) I need to get a new car (my husband has the main family car for work).

I don't know the first thing about selling sites and wanted to ask the Warriors with more experience for some advice. Is it worth selling the site or should I keep it and try to do a better job monitizing it?

If you have a good suggestion and you are not eager to work on this site more, selling it is a good idea and you can fit some needs of your life with it. But if you don't have a suggestion now, you can work a little on it and i am sure it will be back to the previous position shortly.

As you know, sites are pretty tough to manage and keep fresh for Google. It only gets harder once you introduce a product to it. Your motivation is key to having a successful sales site. If you're heart isn't there, sell. There's no getting around how hard it is to do something great if you don't want to.

Your probably right, the site was my baby for a while, it was a pet project to see how high I could push a site in a competitive niche (google comp for the keyword is like 70mil or something). Having reached my target with it I realised I just dont enjoy doing the writing for the site anymore.

What is the best way to sell a site? I have looked at flippa but I am hopeless at writing sales stuff

As you said you have lost interest in your website after hacking. You have also helth problem and want quick money. In this case selling website is very good idea, but... you don't have enough knowledge and experience about selling website. In this case you might sell website with low price. So, take all knowledge about selling your website and after that decide. You should also decide if selling your website will be profitable or not? Anyway you can sell website at Warrior forum, Flippa etc. You can get enourmous information about site flipping by just searching. Hope you will get help through this.

If it's lost the rankings for those keywords and you didn't say ... does it have traffic and revenue? If no ... then you probably won't get a lot for it.

You could list it in the warrior forum complete sites for sale also. Less competition than Flippa, but if you do list it on Flippa, just take a look at Just Sold tabs and see what they say about their sites and do a sales page that is similar.

It has its ranking back. It is in position 4 on page 1 for google atm. the traffic doesnt look great atm only about 2k in the last month instead of the 5k+ it was getting (the site only just got back onto page 1). I never actually monetized the site properly so there is no revenue to speak of

You need to monetize properly and get some income first or the site will sell for a fraction of its worth.

You might perhaps want to try to monetize it to show that it is profitable and then sell it but it's up to you. The organic traffic might speak for itself.

There are also various places you can sell your site the most known being flippa but I don't really like it there the success rate isn't really good from what I heard of. It's too competitive and hard to spot the good sites form the bad sites.

You can try listing it in WF for a small fee or in other forums

Website is an asset like any other - it is a cow giving you milk. If you don't want any more milk and want instant cash instead, sell.
