company wants to buy one of my sites?

Hi, I got some great feedback in the "off topic" area, but was directed over here. Okay,

I was contacted by a company that wants to buy one of my sites.

They have asked to be connected to my google analytics for this site. Is that protocol?

I understand using escrow.com is the preferred/safest way to receive payment.

Is there anything I must do/not do.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't let them in the GA account, you should take a screen shot of the pages they want to see.

Agreed. Its difficult to know whether they are a competitor, or perhaps just someone performing marketplace research on a potential niche.

Perhaps Im being paranoid, but use common sense and a bit of caution.

Crystal is right on, IMO. I wouldn't give anyone access to my own personal pages of any sort. Pictures should suffice. If they want it bad enough they will be okay with that. Remember.. you have something THEY want so you do not have to bend over backwards for THEM.

Agree with everyone. Any schmuck out there can call themselves a "company" and just work you for information under the premise they are ready to buy. This is your business, be protective because your information is valuable and some will lie, cheat and steal to get to it.

Yes ... access to Google analytics is protocol and escrow would be the only way to go since these people came to you out of the blue and you know nothing about them. Set up escrow.com so that buyer and seller each pay 50% of the escrow fee and absolutely do not transfer anything until the money is in the escrow account ... all of the money.

I've seen companies want to place their OWN goolge tracking code on your page just to make sure the traffic you're claiming to get is all legit. It's an understable request from their point of view, and so you just need to make sure they're serious before putting any code up.

If you're going through an Escrow, I'm sure they can help with this.

    cheers
