Do you like the new cpanel in Hostgator?

I just noticed today that the hostgator cpanel is totally changed!

It looks really fresh now, as well as it looks like they have added a lot of new features.

At least I think it's a lot easier to get a great overview over mostly anything that has to do with your websites.

Any comments? And any spesific new features you like?

I have dedicated servers but anyways .. every server I setup I setup with X3 theme as it offers more options and a cleaner interface..

I am not sure if the non-reseller or non-dedicated have this or not..

My cpanel looks the same so maybe it is just for resellers.

I'm not a reseller, but my panel has changed.

The jury is still out on this new one. Being a 100% tech dummy, it's a bit of a challenge to me right now.

Maybe I'll learn to like it after a few weeks.

I have my own servers, but keep a reseller account active at Hostgator that I've had for a long time.

Didn't like any of the new cpanel themes, so I just changed it back to the old cpanel theme.

Don't like how they changed the file manager either, but I haven't figured out how to switch that back yet -- if it's possible.

Under X3 the legacy file manager is the same as the old one ...

Your welcome .. Although I use FTP and SSH .. I have looked at the new file manager and it really is a step down in my opinion.. The old one works much better.

I like it overall. Some nice features. Looks like they are trying to push domain sales though.

Yeah. - It's tempting, but I still register them at namecheap.
I might try 1and1 later though, as they seem even cheaper.

      And back to the cpanel...
I don't have a reseller account. - I only have a baby croc, but it had suddenly changed last time I checked.

Personally, I think it looks a lot better. - Especially if you have subdomains.
The new stats interface directly from the cpanel is great.

The whole thing is a bit awkward at once, but I think I will quickly get used to it. I like it to look professional and modern.

I agree, and people can always switch back if they prefer the old look.

Looks aren't very important for something like this, in my opinion.

But it does look nice, and has some handy features.

A lot of thought obviously went into it.

I just checked it out, and so far, it seems a lot more user-friendly. I had always been frustrated when I wanted to see my stats. It's definitely different, and will take some getting used to. But so far, so good.

The CPU and Memory usage stats in the sidebar are cool. Was that there before? Maybe I just never noticed them.

It will take some getting used to. The only real problem I have with HG is their customer support. The help you get with the online chat is pretty bad!

I personally like the old panel but the new one is beginning to grow on me... after using it for a number of days now though, I think a lot of sentiment is a learning curve issue.

I do agree with James though, I like the old File Manager better.

The new look is fresher, and it just takes me an extra moment or two to find what I'm looking for. I like the old panel, but I'm sure within weeks I won't even remember what it was like.

Perhaps it was availiable for resellers only.
I only have a baby croc account with addon domains, and it suit my needs for now.

Although the design is much better now, I think the interface loading slower compare to the previous design.

I think the new one has a nicer feel but it takes longer time to load.

I think the overall feel is it is neater too.

I cant say I like it too much. While it looks nicer, there are a lot more steps to do anything. For instance you cant just login and go to the file management. You get a pop up, then once you open that you have to screw around with the new template of how things are listed in their so called ftp like set up. It was a lot easier to click the folder or file you wanted and choose the option. Now you have to choose the folder, then open the folder, then select the file, then choose an option, and the edit file option isn't any good because you can barely see on the screen where your cursor is.

Or, maybe I just spend too much time using cpanel...

I have been using cPanel v11 for quite some time, it is just Hostgator that is a bit late in upgrading I suppose. My host allows me to change theme back to X, which is the original theme for cPanel.

Basically it is indeed just a face lift. I still prefer the legacy file manager.
