Google Local results --- how long to get ranked?

I submitted a site via the Google Local form..... uploaded a pic, etc...

I also uploaded a geo-sitemap with the gps coords, and had it added to webmaster tools to get spidered as instructed by another warrior member WSO...

But that was like 2-3 weeks ago.... when I search for "[business name] [city,state]" it doesn't show up in the results?

What gives? How long does it usually take to get added in the local results?

    Does your resource mention how to use your keywords in Google places? Especially the one you are using to verify your position. I welcome other comments but I think that may be how you would verify.

      Right now I'm just using the business name as the keyword.... with city and state.... like this:

      Burger King Los Angeles, CA

      If it's not ranking for the business name it certainly won't rank for the keywords?

        Does it not show up anywhere in the results? There are lots of factors that go into getting your site ranked in Google local results. Some of the more obvious are keyword rich domain and complete profile and business details. Make sure your pages reflect the same address that you submitted in your profile also. Reviews help...citations from other sites help...the vicinity in which your business address may also play a role as well on which spot you may rank for (A,B,C,D etc.). The more thorough your listing, the better chance you stand of ranking better.

    No, it doesn't show up anywhere in the results....

    When I go to the webmaster local section, under "Status" ... it shows the site as active... and there's a link that says See your Listing on Google Maps. When I click that I see the profile page.

    But when I search for "business name city,state" in Google.com, or in Google Maps, it doesn't show up either place? It's very frustrating.

      If it's a new listing it will take a few weeks, usually between 2 and 4. If you search on maps you will probably be able to find your listing there as a dot on the map, but it won't appear above the organic results on the main page for those few weeks.

      If it is shown as active in your google account then just forget about it for a while and it will eventually pop-up. Don't keep tweaking the listing to trying to get it to show up as if you change things around constantly it'll increase the chances of the listing being flagged for review.
