Sites disappearing from Google SERPs

Lately, I've had a couple of my sites disappear from Google search results. First one, then few days later, the other. They didn't get de-indexed or anything as drastic as that, but they did disappear from the 1st page and were not even in the top 100 results.

A couple of days later one of the sites re-appeared in its original position and I'm now waiting with fingers crossed for the reinstatement of the second site. In the mean time I'm expecting this to happen to all of my sites, I guess?

I have heard of this sort of thing happening to others, but have not had personal experience and especially to two of my sites within a period of one week. Insidentally, these are not brand new sites. They are about 5-6 months old and have been in their current positions for a couple of months.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour and is this something to worry about? In my case, it is a little bit of a worry as one of these sites I am promoting for sale and the "disappearing act" doesn't help my cause.

A little off topic, but I've read a few threads about google reported search volumes to be drastically lower all of a sudden than in the past and even as recently as last week. I wonder if all of this a sign that something is afoot at Google..

Vlad.

I just had the same thing happen to 2 of mine. They dropped out of sight and both wound up around 154 their main keywords. One took me overnight to get back to its previous position, and the other took about four days. I'd suggest you just apply a little bit of work and they should pop right back where they were.

    Relax, this is natural.

Dont do anything until you give it a week, or at least a few days.

Yeah, that is what they called "Google Dance". I don't know know why but whenever they update their index, it seems to happen. But they almost always come back and appear where they were after a week or two.

Hope that comforts you a little...

5-6 months is still considered to be a fairly new site. Fluctuations are normal, just keep SEOing and keep consistency with your promotion. Many times you will find if a site drops out of its position it can come back much stronger and in a higher position as long as your SEO is tight and consistent.

Yeah, I know it's not uncommon, only that I've never had this happen before and especially that 2 of my sites were affected over a short period of time. I almost feel special (NOT!) getting this personal attention from Google.

Don't be alarmed and get your knickers in a knot! LOL This happens quite a bit if your site has not aged(time of being indexed)It is quite natural but you will find that it will usually return and if you have been doing your homework,,,such as backlinking,,,you may find that it ranks even higher. Just keep on doing your homework and build your site.Essentially there isn't a damned thing that you can do about it anyway and if you have not used any blackhat crap and kept everything on the up and up, you will be just fine. Happens to all of us!

That's why some of your pages are dropping up and down.
Thanks for the info SEOExpert777, any idea where I can find out more about these changes?
