Best way to spend money on long term Traffic

I have $1000 to spend and I want to spend it on getting long term traffic to my site MIKESAUTOGRAPHS I currently hired someone to do get me first rankings for google on the search term "autographs" I got quoted around $630. What's done is done, however for future reference do you think I spent my money wisely or should I have had a bunch of articles outsourced and then submitted, or whatever you guys think. I want long term traffic, best bang for my buck for the long term?

Let me know

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike, first of all what kind of autographs are you selling and helping your customers collect? I see three sports niches (baseball, basketball, hockey). I think it is more beneficial to get ranked, for basketball autographs, baseball autographs, hockey autographs than just going for autographs alone.

You still could further expand on these keywords to get less competition and better rankings/conversions.

if i was in your shoes, i'd invest into article marketing. This is one proven tactic that brings business for the long run. If you can write your own article great, if not hire a freelance writer and get the ball rolling.

Make sure to do proper keyword research, before paying someone to write your articles.

I think that you should choose a target/buying keywords for your website. Don't make it too general because you will not see ROI for that term. Find the keywords that people like to purchase/interest will do wonder.

    By the way, nice site

    Mike,

You for sure need to target the keywords like baseball autographs, basketball autorgraphs, nascar autographs etc. etc. as these will be easier to get a page one ranking for and will send just as much traffic. Also these keywords are more targeted that "autographs", you may also want to see if you can rank for keyword phrases such as A Rod autographs, Brett Farve autographs, Shaq autographs, Kobe autographs etc. etc. which should be even easier to rank for.

Also the article creation and submission is a good idea and will help to send traffic to your website and also help with your SEO by building backlinks to your site.

I totally concur, "autographs" is too broad of a term to rank for. Put yourself in the shoes of someone searching for an autograph, what you want are long tail keywords that match up with what you have in your store inventory, just as described above. Just be sure to pick the long tail keywords for items that you will regularly have in stock at your store.
