Having subscribers as msn contacts a good idea?

Hey guys,

I'm always looking to build a stronger relationship with my list and trying to make them trust me more everyday. Now, some of my subscribers have asked me if they could contact me via msn messenger...

Is it a good idea to add them to my msn contacts?

Of course, I would NOT add them to my *personal* msn account, but to an additional msn address for that purpose only. I have no doubt it will help me build a stronger relationship with them and they will trust me more, but what could be the negative effects of this?

You should add them to your MSN.
Just don't get addicted talking to them.
But you can chat with your list and make your relation stronger.

I'd say no. Do you want to spend all day chatting, or working?

Might be fine for a small list but once it gets big, what then? Those that leave because you wont chat to them are probably high maintenance, not worth keeping and would eat up your valuable time.

Use that time to attract subscribers that dont send 'yo what's up?' messages three times a day.

Yes. I think that would be fine.
We've been doing the same thing with our clients as well.

Thank you guys! I guess I'll be adding a few subscribers to my msn. But only a few because I dont want to take much time chatting like Bluewater said.

    Thanks again guys!

Instead of adding them to your MSN why not setup a weekly, or monthly, UStream chat, or other interactive chat service at a scheduled time?

You then have control of your own time, give them more interaction, and bring them together as a community with you as the leader.

I would add them. However mind you I am super unproductive because I chat a lot so I would not listen to me on this.

I did have one guy who wanted to add me, asked me to borrow money within a day. Then he asked me to buy him something, then he asked me to goto a store and get a iphone.

    On second thought, screen them.

    Cheers,

Ustream.tv is free for your use.

Some of my favorite IM people are regular broadcasters like, Ed Dale, Ryan Moran, and I believe even Travis Sago did one recently.

There are other similar services scattered around.
