How to make my site popular?

I take it you are talking about popular on the search engines in order to generate traffic ... we call this SEO.

It would be very difficult to respond without seeing your site however here are some pointers.

Use well researched keywords as page names
Include the same keywords as alt tags - do not go over the top though
H1 and H1 page titles should be included
Copy should be about 500 words per page

Perhaps start by giving some more information, blindly requesting help without any given context won't get you what you're looking for.

If SEO then Social Bookmarking should be the very first thing to do.

Build traffic if your visitors like your site and your offer then they may tell their friends and their friends will tel their friends and so on. But you need to build traffic. You need to write or get articles wrote for you to publish. You need to build your links to your site. You need to get a reader base. YOu need to add new and alot of content. You need to keep giving your readers more to come back for. You need to build your list and gain their trust.

Yes I know I sound like a broken record here. Its only because this same exact question comes up atleast 30 times a day. A little searching would eliminate double post like this. Take all the information you learn here and use it. If you just sit in the forum how can you build your list, produce articles, build backlinks, build and audiance, build readers, build their trust. Its not hard work but you need to do the work.

I am sorry if you take this the wrong way but it really is not directed directly at you. Its directed at all the ones who come in here and ask this same question then a few days later they are back in here doing this again. Do you think any brick and mortar business started off with 1000s or hundreds of people coming into their business willing to buy with out them putting out some advertisings. This is the same way everything you do on line should be some type of advertising for your site. Wether that be blog comments, forum post, writing articles, turning your articles into videos, and so on.

You need to get out there and get the word out about your site instead of asking how you can improve the popularity of your site with out doing any of the above. Brings me to the saying in that one old movie I do not remember the title to anymore but will know it when I see it.

If you promote it in any way possible they will come. It doesnt happen over night which is why so many newbies fail in this business. They think that oh ok I have a site so now hundreds of thousands will see it and I have to do nothing. This is why I failed with my first site. I built the online store where I wouldnt have to handle a single order all I had to do was promote the site and never did I figured google would just pick it up and I would be set. Boy was I mistaken. But we learn from are mistakes.

Apart from above mentioned points, updated content is another most important thing you should regularly check. Starting good then leaving it that way won't work. Promotion through correct means can also grab some traffic for you.

You should firstly creare optimized pages and aster publishing them to your website you should create backlinks for those pages. You can submit your pages to social bookmarking sites, This can help that your pages to be indexed faster too.
Then you can write some articles about your website or any special page of your website that you want to promote, then submit this article to article directories.
Also if you have a lot of fan on Facebook and followrs on Twitter, it can help you to drive traffic to your website too.

Also, more article writer the better. You can (and should) also start making youtube videos, create a twitter accounts and a facebook fanpage. Those are all great ways to get free traffic. Now, if you want to pay for traffic you can always go the PPC route. Google can get expensive so you should look into 2nd tier search engines (Yahoo, Bing, 7Search etc.). Also, remember if you don't want to spend too much money do some keyword research and target the keywords and phrases with less comp. There are sooo many whys to drive traffic to a site. Focus on a couple to start and pound them out!

Aside from that, the usual SEO, articles, social bookmarks, backlinks will get you the traffic...

However, if you want the visitors coming back, you will need to make great content.
