What the F?? - Have you heard about this????

I think I have come across this before, but, what is it with everyone emailing me about this paypal deal?

I got an email pointing to a website saying if I paid $5 to 5 people on this list then I would somehow get $5000+ to my paypal in the first month?

This can't be legit - or legal - looks tempting though

This has to be some sort of pyramid or chain letter scam. I'll just get rid of it.

Its a pyramid scam / chain letter - and in most states its illegal.

Add the sender to your email spam list.

If you feel like doing something about it, find out what state the server is in, and report the site to the Attorney General of that state.

It's like the old chain mail letters where you were supposed to send $1 to everyone on the list and move your name up and all that.

Just delete it and forget it.

Until you realise that you'll permanently forfeit your PayPal account, almost for sure, if you try it, you mean?

"Good thinking, Captain". And then you won't have to worry about who eventually loses all the money that those who "get in early" are making, either.

I think you are talking about cash gifting.

      This is most certainly illegal.

In the US, this IS flat out ILLEGAL! It is a pyramid, and differs from the CLASSIC ponzi ONLY in that usually no real pretense is promised. PONZI, for example, spoke of arbitrage on investments, madoff spoke of investments and contracts. THIS type of scheme ONLY says others will pay you.

There have been a lot of these popping up lately... the basic concept appears to be giving these people $5 and you get resell rights to the website which in turn you can promote for instant $5 payments yourself...

There is no actual product for sale...

jthenry55 - the one I was talking about is when you just are supposed to send $5 to 5 names on a list and then take the last name off of the list and place your name there. I don't think you buy anything, you just send people money. Anyway, I don't get it and don't want to get it, it is certainly a scam as far as I can tell.

I made this post because there was a new spin on this by using Paypal instead of mailing people money through the mail and I just didn't recognize it right away
