    In theory everything is possible.

In practice it will depend on how your theme (its menu) is coded.

There used to be some plugins (page redirect?) to this.

In WP 3.x.x you can do it easily with the new custom Menus feature.

In this kind of setup I would hard code it in. I have yet to see a plugin that allows you to create page menu buttons that link to something other than a WP generated page.

If I can do that, imagine what you could do.

As Istvan says . . "In WP 3.x.x you can do it easily with the new custom Menus feature. "

      Great new feature!

        Great new feature!

Thanks, and sorry, I should have read his post carefully. Ironically I do a lot of my work with WP and the first thing I do whenever I can't do something is to hard code it. So my bad -- and it's great that you pointed this out because I learned something new to add to my arsenal.

Sorry for my misleading response. Again, if nobody pointed out my mistake (a) I would have continued on hard coding link pages and (b) I wouldn't have learned to pay closer attention to reading posts.

(It doesn't help that I don't have my glasses on and I responded to the post on my wife's iPhone... excuses, excuses...)

BTW -- great guide on WP, Istvan. Very generous of you to share the info with us.

      Why?

Actually, you have to see WP 3.0 (or later) - it has that feature built-in.

Sorry. Because I didn't realize it could be done on WP 3 and up. I should have read your post with my glasses on. My mistake.

I definitely have to try it out. I spend more time doing installs and tweaking themes than playing with new features. Please disregard my post above so it doesn't mislead anyone. =)

The WP 3.0 menu support only works if you have a theme that has native support for that feature.

    Go to 'Appearance' then 'menu'

If your theme supports it, then you can do it within WP. If not, you will need a plugin that will do it, but is compatible with WP 3.0

There is a plugin called 'page links to' simply install the plugin and then when you create a new page, scroll down and you will see a box where you enter the url of the page you want to direct to. Enter the url and publish the page. That page tab will now redirect to your landing page or whatever url you entered.

It is really simple to use.
