Probably a dumb question....

I have been reading at the Warrior Forum for several months now, and am just now working up the nerve to post!

I am getting ready to purchase a domain that I have done a lot of research on using Micro Niche Finder. I am working with a keyword phrase for the domain, and I can't decide if I should buy the singular or plural of the keyword.

Keywordphrase.com has 2,400 for the local search count.
Keywordphrases.com has 1,300 for the local search count.

I think I remember reading somewhere that if you buy the plural of the keyword phrase you will rank for both the plural and singular. Is that correct, or should I just go for the singular since it has a higher search count.

Thank you so much for your help. I'm so glad to finally be posting.

Maybe you should buy them both and simply redirect one of them permanently to the other.

I had the same problem yesterday with a domain. I bought both. It's only another 12 bucks.

Future reference: don't post actual domains you've got under consideration in the forum. People do spy on it and snap up domains while you're waiting for advice.

And if someone did that, it wasn't me.

Many SEO experts will agree that the title element is your strongest on-page element, and optimizing the title is crucial for traffic and rankings. However when the keyword phrase you're targeting has both a singular and plural version, most people have a difficult time optimizing for both. Newbies decide to create a page for both versions or just target the one term usually with the higher search volume. However with some careful planning it is possible to get both versions into your title tag.

Go go for the higher count for your domain but get the other version into your title tag without looking "stuffed."

Those domains were taken in 2002, I think he just put those in for example purposes.

You're over thinking it. You should rank well for both phrases, regardless.

If you're building satellite sites, then use both domains for two seperate sites.

This is the most correct answer. People that are new tend to be in "perfection mode", whereas experienced IM/SEOers are into "production" mode.

One may be slightly better than the other, and then maybe not. On the other hand, it may change tomorrow, then change again a month from now.

It's far better to be quick and decisive, with a good education/training in the basics, than it is to try to be "perfect". The time you spend debating this issue could have been spent getting a few links which would give either/or an advantage over the other...
