Here is my suggestion for you. Do NOT start 100 sites. Do you realize how much time it would take to manage all of those domains?

If I were you, I would start by managing 1 to 3 sites in the same niche. By doing it this way, you only need to learn about one topic, and you can focus on making a few sites profitable.

When I first started in IM, one of the mistakes I made was spreading myself too thin. I should have spent more time promoting one or two sites instead of 6 or 8 sites in four different niches.

Focus on one niche at a time, and one to three websites at a time. For every article or web 2.0 page you write, link everything back to these three sites.

If he is in autoblogging, you can manage 100 sites, because the sites auto-update, so you don't need much time to manage it. And yes you can make this with that package from Hostgator.

And if you put your domain names on auto-renewal, is more simpe.Or you can buy just one domain name, and then create sub-domains for it.

    All the best,

Unless you have the income to hire the necessary people it will take to start and run 100 websites efficiently, this is not a smart thing to do right away. Start with a few websites, get them up and running to their full potential, until you are able to hire people to help run those sites before you start trying to open up more sites!

It is extremely difficult and highly improbable that one person can open and maintain 100 websites efficiently! I like how you are thinking big, but you have to be grounded in your thinking as well! Don't set a goal for yourself that isn't attainable!!!

Once you are able to get 100 sites up, Host Gator would definitely be the way to go!

I'm guessing that the OP is probably thinking about autoblogs. I am not going to give my opinion on this, as that is not what the question was.

To answer the question, get a reseller account at HostGator and have them install WHM. It is an easy way to manage all of your domains. Also, register all of the domains at one registrar site and set the default nameserver to the nameservers provided by your host. That way, you don't have to set it each time you register a new domnain name.

  • wordpress 3.0 has something called MULTISITE

you can run 100 or more blogs all from one install

I'd do that on shared hosting like hostgator

    not too hard

If you are looking at creating thin or spammy Adsense/Affiliate sites that are of low quality. Then I strongly recommend that you split them up among different hosts. As an alternative, you can also look at "SEO hosting" packages that provide a number of different Class C ip addresses. That way, you are minimizing the risk of being banned by Google in one go.

There are hosts that provide you with a number of individual unrelated hosting accounts, and those that allow you to control all your accounts with a single control panel. Obviously the latter is much better.

I would recommend either seohosting.com (owned by hostgator) or hostnine (reseller account). Hostnine is not really an SEO host but it is as good as any.

You can host them on Hostgator.
I always say this, but don't EVER choose a host by it's price. You should always choose by the user feedback.
Even if the price seems tempting, you should go with a more expensive but with more feedback host.

Believe me, having all your sites going offline because you wanted to save a few bucks is not a great experience.

    Hostnine.com - Reseller. $24.95/mo unlimited sites.

4 Differnet IP sets to choose from. EAST, WEST, CENTRAL and UK. The different IP locations make running and interlinking autoblogs more feasible.

Used grid hosting for best performance. Have over 80 AB's running with no issues.

If using WProbot tell Hostnine Admins/support to turn OFF "mod_security" for that specific domain or some crucial plugins won't work.

With Wordpress you can get as many sites as you want and manage them with only one admin.

1-Get the hosting company of your choice.
      2-Install Wordpress.
3-Activate the multisite. Steps here http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
4- Install the domain mapping plugin so each one of your sites will have its own domain name. Steps here: http://ottopress.com/2010/wordpress-3-0-multisite-domain-mapping-tutorial/

      I guess that's it.

Another way to easily install and manage 100 WP blogs is to use WordPress Direct (their Platinum package is currently sold out, but their Gold Package allows you to work on up to 100 WP blogs).

I host and manage 80+ sites with no problem. I use Namecheap.com to register domain names, and DreamHost.com to host all of them.

For about $10 a month, although I have not paid for hosting in almost 3 years as I use the Dreamhost affiliate to fund my account.
