My articles.. are they any good?

I have been told that I write well pretty much since I was a kid, but I was wondering if the same can be said for the articles I write, if it's not too much to ask I would ask you to take a quick look at the articles I have on my blog, and post some short and honest feedback here. Keep in mind that these articles are not for affiliate purposes, I want to supply some quality unique truly helpful content to build a regular amount of traffic. If you hate what you read tell me, if it's just average tell me but give me your honest opinion please, I don't mind critique.

The reason I'm asking is because I actually like writing, even articles to some extent and if possible I'd like to develop my skills to be able to write articles for money as well as make a decent affiliate income with them. If I'm completely hopeless would be useful to know up front right?

Ok - you did ask for honest feedback. My personal opinion is that it is all too wordy, which makes it tedious to read. As an example - you say:

"The reason I did this is mostly because it would simply be too long to post it here in one post"

When you could just say "I did this because it would be too long for one post".

The whole article is full of unnecessary words that add nothing to its meaning.

Don't mean to be rude - just my opinion.

I agree with both hidman and rosetrees - you write pretty well, though you do get a bit wordy at times. Also a bit stilted - "relax" your writing a bit.

Otherwise, I feel it's a step or two above many of the blogs that members here ask to be reviewed. Keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback and encouragement , what do you mean by "relax" my writing? I think I understand but I can't explain it in English.

I think what McBride means is that your writing is rather formal and a bit old fashioned. I don't speak any Norwegian, but I would guess there would a difference between the way you would write and the way your grandparents or parents would have written?

Use fewer words. Keep your sentences short. That will make your articles easier to read.

I think you've got the writing part nailed. the next thing to work on is editing. Polishing what you have written to remove the extra words and add life to the article.

My impression is that you tried to sound like a text book. Try writing one of your articles as a monologue - something you might record. You may find the words flow better, more naturally.

Your writing is decent and with consistent practice should be very good. Watch out for the run on sentences and grammatical stuff. Overall, it seems effective enough. Keep it up!

Ah yes I'm used to writing short stories and the like so I must have gotten used to it. Again, thanks

I presume you are a non-native speaker of English? If so, your writing is very good indeed - and I know what I'm talking about in this area :-)

However, it does seem a bit cold and non-engaging for a blog. You write long complex sentences and they are not really appropriate. A blog has to have a 'chatty' informal style.

If your articles get people to take whatever action you want them to, they're
good. If they don't, they're not.

I have articles in some niches that don't do squat. So however well written
they may be (technically speaking) they don't do me a damn bit of good.

So, if you're getting the results you want, you're doing fine. If not, you need
to work on it. It could be your delivery, the people you're reaching, lots of
                things.

That's why you could write, "Hey bro what's up? Did you check out the new
do-dad at..." and sell a boat load of product to one market and totally bomb
                out with another market.

"Good" is in the eyes of your reader.

    overall... nice.

a bit wordy... yes. I learned to write from dad, doing screenplays... and while you're not writing dialog, his advice sill holds true... "When in doubt, play it silent". Basically, cut to the chase... That said...

Well said, However like I said what I am trying to achieve is more visitors, recurring visitors and also to gain the trust of my readers as well. I will try to write a few honest recommendation articles and see how it goes.

I took a quick look. I am a writer, and one thing I noticed was your use of commas. Some of your sentences are long. Your style is good. It's friendly and accessible. But sometimes I noticed that instead of ending the sentence, you'll put a comma and then capitalize the first word in the clause. I found it a little distracting.

Internet writing works on the idea that people have short attention spans. Short paragraphs. Short sentences. Lots of subheadings. Subheadings should be bold faced.

Like I said - your grammar is sound, your style is friendly and a pleasure to read. But to truly write in an internet friendly way the things I mentioned above should be taken into consideration.

(BTW - I sort of wrote my post as a living example of what I'm saying. )

There is enthusiasm in your writing, and that is good!

Keep your verbs active and your sentences friendly but confident. Be clear about what you are saying, and be succinct as often as possible. For example:

"There are some that would argue that articles are simply a tool for getting backlinks to your blog or website but I think it never hurts to exceed people's expectations and over deliver with an article that will actually help the readers."

    Here is a rewrite:

"Some people argue that articles are simply a tool to get backlinks to your blog or website. I believe that it can and should go beyond that. Exceed expectations with your articles by giving your readers helpful information."

That is only one way to rewrite it, but you get the picture. Be an expert! Try to avoid words like "I think" or "maybe" or "perhaps". Make sure sentences don't go on too long; it can tend to make readers lose focus (and subsequently interest.)

    I hope this helped!

You've gotten some good advice so far. I noticed some punctuation, grammatical and spelling errors. You'll definitely want to root those out. And I agree - break your writing into shorter sentences.

It's not designed for ad copywriting, but "The First Five Pages" by Noah Lukeman is an excellent, easy-to-read book for aspiring writers. Get it.

Ditto... I think it's good, what struck me first was that it's personable, this is something a lot of writers/bloggers etc miss.
BUT, regarding your blog, when I scroll up and down the page gets seperated somehow, very weird...is it just me?

OK. Not many people on this forum know more about writing articles than Steve W. You should listen to what he told you.

You're getting too hung up on your writing style and missing some fundamentals.

Yes, communicating effectively is important, but unless you're going for a Pulitzer prize, all you want is for your visitors to take the required action when they visit your page.

You have a floating opt-in form. I won't go in to the merits or otherwise of that, but I had to close it as it obscured the text. I was then left with no other way to opt in to your list.

You should, therefore, also have a static opt-in box on the page, above the fold.

Your links to "build your own email list" just took me to the Squidoo home page. Not what you intended, I'm sure.

      Again, get the basics right.

You've made a great start, but you need to decide exactly what action you want your visitors to take and then focus your efforts on that.

      Good luck.

    My personal opinion:

In IM world, Good writing is AIDA - Attention Grabbing title, lead to Interest and Desire that take the action you want.

Article "marketing" is all about marketing, a tool to grab search engine traffic and make money from it! As long as you know BUM marketing well enough, you can use it to drive tons of traffic to your website!

Further building a list and membership site that will sky rocket your income! BUM marketer just send the traffic to affiliate offer, a bit "wasted", but they make good money.
