It might just be a temporary thing and need some time to recover ... give it a few days

I think it's a temporary thing too.. Some say that adding Google analytics should help you rank higher.. so wait for it.. and please report back what happened.

I think that is just worrying about nothing...

Rankings fluctuate daily... For a lot of sites...

Mostly because of Google pulling from more than 100 data centers, but that is another story...

I see no reason why analytics would change your rankings... In my mind, it is simple coincidence...

Adding it shouldn't affect your ranking directly.

However, what it does do is give google a lot more information about your website than it would have had previously.

And some of this information may have triggered a penalty, hence your drop in the rankings.

So no it doesn't directly affect your ranking just because you installed it.

But it does give google a lot more information about what is going on with your website, sometimes it can work to your advantage - sometimes not.

        For example...

If they find from the information they get through analytics people aren't staying on your website very long, they may punish you.

On the other hand, if people are staying a long time, they may reward you and a rise in the rankings follows.

It can work both ways which is why some people say it has benefited them, and some say the complete opposite.

Yeah, I'm not sure if there is any direct evidence for this (i.e. Google explicitly state it) but there is a lot of talk/rumour that adding Analytics effects your site ranking one way or another.

I have also heard similar stories to what oneplusone mentioned. It does make sense, though nothing is certain and there's also the chance it could be a coincidence. I haven't yet experienced it myself.
