How to market my website..............

I've just had a website put together and will be driving traffic to it using articles etc.

What can I do now with my actual website to try and get some rankings in google yahoo etc,

Do I need to submit my website to all the search engines, any pointers of how to do this would be appreciated.....

My sales leter was written by a copywriter and I don't think it is particulary keyword rich so would it therefore be a waste of time trying to promote the website within the search engines and bookmarking it etc.

hey buddy- Your own sales page? Thats awesome!! But I think that , if you are letting affiliates promote your product- than let 'em do that. THATS the point..

Hey, do you know about simple things like link wheels? And rss submissions? Create tons of web 2.0 sites- write tons of articles on the main subject at various article directories - and definitely make videos, and press releases.

Thanks Jbird, I am kind of going along those lines. I have heard of link wheels but would really appreciate a further explanation of how I could do this from you or anyone else if you can help.

I also understand the concept of using as many sources to gain as many backlinks to the website as possible to improve the rankings of the website. However as I mentioned I have not targeted specific keywords on my sales page as a copywriter just wrote it.

So how would I know what keywords to go for in the rankings..... or would I just rank anywhere, just where google feel like placing the site? How would I even know then if I was ranking well and under what keywords? I know I am seriously rambling on but really I haven't the faintest idea about this website stuff only really the basics of article marketing etc.

        Thanks again....

Get as many backlinks as you can. Article marketing, blog commenting, forum contribution etc. Be patient and don't expect instant results. In time your website will move up the rankings.

To submit your website to the major search engines quickly, use pingler.com - it's free. Don't worry about the smaller search engines, no one uses them.
