Expanding Your Horizons - The True Potential of Information Marketing
I confess that at the time that I first read it, it kind of flew over my head. The concept of my selling an information product for $1,000 or more was more than I could fathom at the time.
Today, I ran across something that reminded me of that post, and opened my eyes (again!) to the fact that spending too much time paying attention to the postings of inexperienced marketers can induce tunnel vision.
We tend (or at least I have) to let our vision be influenced by the downward trend in IM information product pricing. A few years ago, $397, $247, $197 were familiar prices for products that would teach the new or inexperienced marketer a system for making money on the internet.
Now, we see $17, $27, $47, maybe a $97 or two.
So a local business owner friend calls me up today all excited.
"Man, you need to see what I just got hold of! It's called The Facebook Marketing Bible, a special edition just for agencies and brand specialists."
So I ran by his place, he opens up his laptop, a PDF is on the screen. I skim thru the table of contents, look through the information for a few minutes. Pretty solid stuff. Nothing remarkable, information you could grab anywhere really, but written by someone who has had some experience in the area.
"Cool stuff," I say. "How much did that cost you?"
"Nine ninety five, and I get updates for the next 3 quarters."
"Dude," I said. "Good deal. It looks like a pretty solid report."
"Yeah," he says, "I to talk myself into spending a thousand bucks on this, but from what's in here, I'll make it back in 30 days."
Whoa. Back up. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS? Yep. Nine ninety five with a decimal point just before the two zeros on the end.
So dear Warrior Forum member who might read this: do you have your blinders on like I did up until today?
