What Type Of Design Is This

I was checking out a popular site Ask the Builder - The Home Improvement Resource (not an affiliate link) and was curious how they set this up as it looks like a combination between a website and a blog? Can you guys tell what they are doing here as I would like to setup my site in a similar way.

    Well, get ready to start learning code (if you don't already) or have someone do it for you.

    After looking at his source code and consulting a couple of my review tools, it does not look like it is using anything off the shelf.

    He is using a couple of javascript libraries (script.aculo.us and Google JS Api) for a good portion of his functionality.

    Hi is also using Shockwave Flash Embed, showing flash content without having to use javascript.

    He is employing RSS on the site also.

    And finally, the site is built on CSS.

    With all of that being said, the site does not look too dissimilar from some WP themes I have seen. So you might be able to get the feel and most of the functionality by shopping around. Or like I said before, hire out a web guy.

    To be honest, there isn't anything really special about that site. I'm not sure what CMS is being used (it's not WP) but a competent developer should be able to knock out a framework for a similar site in a day.

    AskTheBuilder.com is known as a top money making site. It has been used as a Case Study for Adsense, making $30k+ a month.

    From everything I have ever read, it is not a standard CMS, but just evolved over the years.
