Maybe you should elaborate more because I am thinking, by putting links into the documents you are uploading. I don't think thats what you are looking for.

      Ewen,

I start by creating the article in a word document and add the link. When you turn it into a PDF the backlink should still be there...

          Good to see you Cathy,

Yes I have gone from Word to PDF.

Just wanting to know where to put a live link, in the PDF, or outside it at Scribd.

          All the best,
          Ewen

As far as I know you can only put a link in the PDF and somewhere in your profile. Other than that there's no other place. I would still add the URL in the description even though it won't come out as a link.

PDF Converter - Convert to PDF Online Free is a website that converts files, images and url's to PDF.

It's hosted so no messing around downloading.

          Fast too.

          All the best,
          Ewen

        Thanks David.

I have the Word document made into a PDF, SO I just go back to the Word document and
put the link directly in there?

I recall there was some discussion about links and Scribd was getting tougher on them.

So you are sure one link inside the PDF is OK?

        Thank you for your help,
        Ewen

Here is what I found. I use cutePdf printer but when i do it the links are not clickable.

On Ms Word 2007 you can 'Save as' a PDF and then the links are clickable , so I guess insure what ever PDF creator you are using that the Link is active.

Thanks for the question Ewen I learned something.

Is this kind of links valueable?

      Yes indeed.

IF you can get your links in.

      Why?

Because the higher page rank the site you get links from, the higher up the search rankings you go.

Scribd has a page rank of 8, while ezinearticles has a page rank of 6.

      Good question.

      All the best,
      Ewen

      David,

With Open Office are you able to get your links to stick at Scribd?

Different members here say you can't get your links there others say you can.

      I'm confused.

      All the best,
      Ewen

Of course ewen. Its a good move to start making one and see the results.
You can create anchor text links inside the PDF and when google bot indexed it. bam! new backlink(s)

Well I'm certainly wanting those juicy page 8 links David!

Thanks for steering me in the right direction, much appreciated.

          Ewen

PS I downloaded Openoffice over the weekend then deleted it because I couldn't find the PDF maker.

          I'll give it another go.

i have used google documents to quickly dress up my articles for doc sharing sites - which is included with free google mail. Just change the fonts for larger size - add a quick footer with keyword/title - add one link at top and maybe 1 link at conclusion of article - save as pdf file - upload to doc sharing sites.
