May I ask your advice?

Hi Everyone,

I have a blog about cruise vacations that's more a labor of love than a commercial site. Yesterday I received an email from the largest river boat cruise company in the world, suggesting a "strategic partnership". At first I was pretty psyched that such a large company even noticed my little blog.

It turns out, however, that they want me to do a sponsored blog post. I have misgivings about this. Have any of you added sponsored posts to your blogs? Or perhaps you have encountered such posts on other blogs. Did you have a negative reaction when you realized what it was?

I'm trying to guage whether my hesitation is well-placed or a bit too scrupulous.

Thanks very much for your comments.

John

Do you know what they want you to say in the sponsored post? If what they want to say is consistent with your own experience if their services, then why not consider it?

On the other hand, you don't want to spoil your reputation or put off your readers by making recommendations that you don't believe in.

If I think the product is worthy, I have no objections to putting sponsored posts on my blogs. It's a good revenue source for a blog.

Have you thought off selling it to the cruisercompany ?

Sell it, and upsell maintenance and hosting - provided by you !

    300-500 $/m.

    regards, LASSE
