Do review sites work?

Hey guys,

So about a year ago when I first got into IM I remember being taught to make a simple one page review site(blog) of a product...send traffic to it and make money on affiliate commissions.

Now...back then I made a sale or two before I stopped doing it and got lazy. My question to you all is..does this still work?

Is it still viable to create a one page review site on one specific product...provide a good review of it (pros and cons)..and make money on affiliate links? Do these pages still convert or do people see it as scams now..

Any info you have on this (up to date info) would be awesome for my knowledge.

Thanks

Gregg

    Simple Answer: Yes.

The most important part is the keyword research. As long as you can make just 1 sale per month, you will profit.

Of course it works. Most people want to know that a product is worth it and, ultimately, how do they find out? They find out from the people that have purchased the product. They want to feel warm and fuzzy, having trust that they'll be spending their money on something that's worth it. Short answer is yes, review sites work.

yes it still works but you need to add more content. the problem now is it is very hard to send traffic to one page site unless youll pay for it.

Review sites are still the way to go. However keep in mind that with new laws and regulations to immers everywhere. You will need to also include a compensation incloser stating you do try to do your best with the imformation provided and that if they click through to a product on your site you can and will be compensated. Other then that review sites do still work really well.

I would also have to say yes. It mostly depends on your ability to research as what has already been stated and possibly invest in adwords or some other alternative if the product is a good enough product.

What I have done in the past, just to give you the simple formula, I would build a review site and pay adwords and try to average my clicks for say .50 and click and play around with the site so that conversions were high.

If product was going to net me $100 commission, it may take 100 clicks for me to get a conversion which would be $50 for the clicks so in the end it would net me a $50 profit and that's just me being conservative with my estimates.

To be honest, I would average about a sale a day so it wasn't like I was becoming rich but the extra income helped. I kind of fell back on that quite a bit because of my other business endeavors but I'm planning to pick up where I left off and that's the beauty of review sites, you work the site instead of letting the site work you.

They absolutely work. This is the only method I pursue and very, very profitably. However, the rules of the game, especially if you are using adwords have changed since the time you tried it. There is a lot more to profiting with Review sites now than earlier. You have tu 'run' a review website to survive on Adwords. Not just have a dead 5-10 page website. Best part is if you do it right, you can target multiple types of visitors and make very good money. Cheers!

Exactly! You can't just build a site and expect it to run itself anymore.

Says who? Most of my review sites are running by themselves.

To answer the OP's question, yes review sites work great and here's why...

You are basically just intercepting the sale. If someone wants to buy something and them search for reviews they are usually already sold on the product and just need some confirmation of their thinking process. Thats where your review site comes in and you make the sale.

Conversions are through the roof because of this exact reason..

        Cheers

They work like freckling crazy if you page is ranked for a targeted keyword, now with PPC not so sure anymore.

As a consumer, I love review sites for actual products. Particularly if they appear to be evenhanded (here are the pros, here the cons).

I automatically assume that all review sites for IM products are BS and ignore those. Only because 99% of the time when I've clicked the link, they ARE BS. Therefore, the rest are BS.

Sorry if you're in that 1%, but there you have it, your colleagues have done you in.
