What happened to all the Adword ads?

I notice when I do a search for a product on Google, that I often don't even see the full 12 ads anymore. I haven't messed with adwords for a while. Can someone tell me why there aren't many ads anymore? Are there new restrictions for bidding on product names? Thanks.

My guess Adwords can be expensive.I too have noticed a drop in Adwords ads on the side of my google results. Some people have probally woken up to the fact there is more better ways to get traffic, that you do not have to pay for.The cost per click is way to expensive, after spending $1000's you might see very little resulsts.

I would agree with Seo_Oz. Adwords are an expensive form of web advertising when you can gain the same if not more exposure for free.

Advertising revenues in all formats are falling.

Plus Social Network marketing is much more direct and effective.

Google Adwords have had their chips.

Google recently banned any type of affiliate sites to run on their adwords services. This is why you see the massive flood of people trying to show you how to make money with facebook ads etc now. All that means are these markets are going to become to overpriced now to with competition to allow for any type of profit.

      Uhmmm, no they didn't.
They got rid of a lot of people promoting scammy MMO products, but there are plenty of affiliates still out there.

Actually, I'm not sure this is true. I just read Google's policy on affiliates and they state that they, "don't accept ads for data entry affiliate programs". They go on to state, "The AdWords account of an affiliate is no different from any other AdWords account -- your account follows the same rules".

There was a massive Google Slap recently...hence the lack of ads in particular niches

  • If there was a google slap, what can we do about it? We have to change and adapt! Learn the rules again, maybe and start making changes to the way we do things on the Internet.

Many advertisers have permanent bans which is why there are less ads around.
