New, need a little help on my plans.

Hey everyone, I am 17 and I have been lurking around IM for about 4 years now. Pretty much just reading and not ever using any action. Now I have a job so I have a little bit of cash to get things rolling. Here is my action plan which I formulated in my head and was wanting to know the forums thoughts.

Please keep in mind this is my first attempt so constructive criticism only please.

Short Simplistic Version - Affiliate Marketing
- Website: Set up a blog offering information and a free e-book (must opt-in to get).
- Marketing: I am going to use e-mail marketing to provide freebies and to offer a few items which I believe will benefit them and me.
- Traffic Sources: Social Networking sites such as Facebook Twitter etc., web 2.0 pages and SEO Blogs, and Article Marketing.
- Income source: will be through recommending e-books which I feel will benefit the lead.

It's late here and I might have missed a thing or two, but that is the short and simple version of how I want to take my attempt at making money online. Please do not try and recommend other ways of making money online such as CPA and others because over the past few years I have looked into them and this is the category for me. Thank you.

Again, I apologize for any errors, misspelling, or grammatical mistakes I am extremely tired, and I just wanted to get some feedback on my plan.

Thank you in advance for all of your help!

~ Jeff K.

The plan seems a good place to start.

    -Setting up a blog,
-driving traffic to it (making sure its targeted),
-collecting email addresses to follow up with emails,
-further promoting affiliate products to this list

Facebook and twitter might not convert as well as you think, but have a go.

Article marketing, forum marketing, free ebook distribution, video marketing, jv deals etc can provide you targeted traffic too.

Most of all, you wont know untill you try. Keep at it and don't give up.

      @Digital Joe

I already have my own PayPal account which doesn't violate the terms(student account) and I can receive and send out payments without a problem. Also I already have a Hostgator account and again there has been no problem with them. Also I have read over Clickbank ToS and not once found a statement saying a minor can't sell their products

Thank you for the concern though. I already have been looking at all this in advance.

What are the restrictions on student accounts as far as eCommerce though? Can you create "Buy Now" buttons for instance with a student account?

Not sure, I haven't looked into that lol.

I was doing my marketing through email marketing so I was just going to send them straight to my affiliate page. I don't need a "buy now" button then, and there are no problems money wise because the money would transfer without a problem.

    Jeff,

At 17 you are going to need some "adult" help. Most services require that you be 18 or older. Don't fudge on this. It would be aggravating to get some income coming in only to have PayPal, your hosting service, etc. shut you down because you violated there terms of service.

We can get more into your outline later.

    Hope this helps.

My new motivation is that I am working at the sonic (fast food joint) down the street and I realized real fast that I don't want to be doing that for the rest of my life.

I found a 30 day marketing guide on here that I would love to test out and it deals with all the FB, Twitter, etc.

    Thank you for your support.

    Hi Jeff K,
I am very impressed at how persistent you are in getting the balls rolling at a young and tender age of 17.

It seems that you are using the list building model to do affiliate marketing.

My suggestion is that you can create a simple squeeze page and thank you page for collecting opt-ins rather than using a blog.

You can direct them to an affiliate offer so you can start making affiliate commissions while driving traffic when people opt-in.

Of course this is my suggestion. And it is important to focus on traffic generation method at one time. Forum traffic are almost targeted and recommend trying it first to get some traffic to your marketing funnel and make some affiliate commissions.

Then write some content emails and promote some really good CB products in your follow up emails.

This will help you keep in focus and make some money while building your list.

    Hope it helps!

When I was 17 the internet was basically a group of bulletin boards and I had no interest... wish I could turn the clock back.

Congrats on realizing at a young age that working for someone else is, for most, not the path to self fulfillment. I'll be watching this thread for updates.

      Good luck Jeff!!

@winsonlim I was planning on using a Squeeze Page, Thank You Page, and a Download Page. The reason for the blog was so I could maximize my traffic generation sources. I want to mainly focus on Social Marketing so I can learn how it works, But I also know how easy it is to get a blog to page 1 in a easy micro niche. That is why I am building the blog so I can help get traffic from all possible methods. I didn't think about Forum Marketing before now, but I will have to start looking into that. Thank You!

@hireava I have used what is called the 30 day challenge by Ed Dale to build a blog, and following his steps and techniques I have had a website on page 1 of Google within a week. But the site was poorly planned and set up so I didn't get any conversions. But, that is what I am looking forward to doing this go around is setting up my websites for peak performance and doing a lot of testing.

@KEKilpatrick I have actually been interested in doing this since age 13 but just now got a job to get some money flowing to help put towards a website such as domain name, registration, etc.

Again thank you all of you for your support and help.

Also don't forget to bookmark your pages to Digg, Delicious, Reddit, etc.

You also want to submit your RSS feeds for everything you do.

Lastly, I would write a few press releases to help get more traffic to your sites.

@Kevin Marshal Thank you for the bookmarking advice I almost forgot. One question, what is a press release? I have heard about these quite a few times, but I never actually new what they where. I am about to head to work so I don't have time for a search on google but could you provide an example or a link to one?

    Thank you,
    ~ Jeff K.

A press release is a news article. You could write a press release every time you launch a new website. The content would be written from the standpoint of a reporter as opposed to someone just trying to promote their site.

If you were launching a new product, you could write a press release for that too. As you start writing more press releases, it gets easier to find reasons to write a press release. The news media does it all the time. They don't just look for news to report. They turn events into news stories.

A good example would be the hurricanes in the Atlantic right now. They keep writing about all of these hurricanes right now that are just going to die out in the Atlantic ocean. In my opinion, these hurricanes are hardly newsworthy. These hurricanes happen every year. People read these articles, so the news keeps reporting it. You would think every one of these hurricanes is going to hit the United States, but in reality, only a few hurricanes cause any major devastation.

Head over to PRWeb.com. They have Press releases there, and they also have advice about how to write press releases.

@Kevin Marshall Thank you for the help. I will head over there in a minute to check it out. I just got off work. I can't wait to start putting in the hard work so I can eliminate the need of a "job". I love the internet and the thrill of learning new things and implementing them to be stuck at a $7.25 an hour day job when if I dedicate the time I can be making far more online. It's all about learning, implementing, scaling up, and then once the dough starts rolling in it's all about doing those things all over again but on a much bigger scale.

Sounds like a solid plan! One thing that every online marketing "guru" suggests is to build a list. By sticking to a plan like this and not get distracted you should have a solid email list in less than a year. Once you have a responsive list you will no longer have to rely on Google for income...

I didn't have much else to add to be honest, but I love the fact that you do have a plan and a strong goal - that is awesome!

Don't underestimate the power of article and video marketing in driving traffic to your offers

    Best of luck

@davidjames42973 thank you for the support.

@good2go4 I am going to use article marketing, but I have no idea how to do video marketing so I guess I will have to dip into that another time so that I don't get distracted.

    Again, thanks everyone!

Last night I took my first step into trying out social networking. I am kind of new to this and really have no idea what I am doing. But so far I have gotten a few people to be my friend on Facebook. And the way I worded the message I sent when I invited them it means that they are interested. Plus the way I found them I new they where already a targeted people.

I never really tried the whole networking thing. You know the whole word of mouth type deal. I have always been the loner and just sat back. Well ever since i have started taking action I have done quite a few new things. Tonight I actually had a conversation with one of the people interested in my niche and he agreed to tell his friends and said he had a few he knew where already into the area I am in (its health related).

It may be a normally thing to many of you out there but to me this was a new experience. You know talking to someone and trying to spread the word of a new website and what not. I don't know but to me this is a spectacular event which I will probably always remember.

Sorry if it seems I am rambling on I just wanted to state how easy it is to network and get your name out there. Lets just hope this pays off I will be so ecstatic if this works!

Anyone reading this and not taking action yet. PLEASE TAKE ACTION NOW! I know you will probably read this and be like hes a newbie and has no idea what he is talking about. Look I have wasted 4 years of my life just sitting back. So look at it this way. You can sit back and keep reading and just absorbing knowledge which you may never use, or you can take action and put the knowledge you gain to use as you learn it and line your pockets with money while doing so.

It's all up to you what do you want to do. Do you want to get nowhere or do you want to start on your journey to becoming an online entrepreneur? Its your choice make the decision.

Jeff...it sounds like you have a pretty good concept of the overall picture. However, you might wan't to invest in a good affiliate teaching program or a good free traffic program. Just look in the reviews section here on the warrior to see whats worth puchasing. You can also just purchase the private members area here on the forum I think for $25

      Hi Jeff,

Good place to start but I would see if you can give something more valuable away than an eBook. I would steer clear of PLR stuff - you might as well write it yourself for the time it would take to rewrite and edit PLR.

I would also look to master traffic. Use social media but don't expect it to be your best source of traffic.

The other thing is "now I've got some money". Just be careful that you don't invest in things that you don't need to invest in.

Some solid educational products for things like traffic and copywriting, your autoresponder, hosting and domain names should be the only things you need if you're just getting started.

You can always invest more capital later when you're bringing in income.
