Hey Warriors

What do you guys use for your ebook cover creator? Do you use a commercial product or a free service or do you outsource?

Thanks in advance.

I outsource this step too. I'd rather have someone else do that for me.

I outsource, or if I need a quick one done, I use www.myecovermaker.com It's Free for the basics, but makes a decent ecover quick and easy.

I use "create minisite graphics" and "cover action pro", this are plugins for photoshop. It's really easy to make the covers and there are several covers

If I'm creating a free report for the purpose of preselling, I'll often use the free creator at
eBook Cover Creator - eCover Design Online Free

If I'm selling a report / ebook, I'll have a professional one designed.

For me, I use photoshop and assorted ecover actionscripts for the job. I like doing it myself so I can sharpen my creative skills.

For stock images, when needed for a design, I'll cruise around the free sites like stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site, Free stock photos - RGBStock.com, or morgueFile free photos for creatives by creatives to see what's available.

And, if I can't find just the right image(s), then I'll head over to Stock Photos & Vector Art : Bigstock™ - Royalty Free Stock Photography which usually has just what I was looking for

I'm not much of a graphics whizz, so I outsource it. It's much easier and less time consuming than having to come up with one on my own.

I enjoy designing most ebook cover graphics myself, but not without the help of some top quality, industry standard software

Photoshop is my favourite image manipulation software (but gimp is pretty cool too), and I also use ProductShotPro (which is kind of under the radar, but it's basically a full-on ebook cover creation software suite that works as an addon to Photoshop CS4 upwards). It saves you a bundle of time - literally hours - and gives you the high resolution templates you need for ebook covers, software boxes etc.

There are quite a few other ebook cover creators out there, but out of the 4 to 5 I've tried over the years ProductShotPro is definitely the one I find easiest to use and am happiest with.

It is kind of pricey, but well worth it. It'll pay for itself with the amount of time it saves you.

P.S I just checked out the site (just to check the right domain name for the link above), and if you go to the home page, scroll down to the end and wait a second or two you should see an lightbox hover up offering a MASSIVE! saving - just a tip ! (Might want to invest while it's so cheap)

Check it out, here's the link: Product Shot Pro | eBook Cover Software | Photoshop Smart Objects

If you need any help with it the guys on support are super awesome too. I hate buying software only to find out the support is rubbish! - thankfully the guys at ProductShotPro are a great help.

Just my 2 cents, good luck!

If I'm creating something for a short give away report, then I'll usually (but not always) do it myself. There are many products on the market to aid in creating ebook and report covers, some are very expensive and some cost next to nothing. You need to search and find what suits you.

As I do not have a flair for creativity though, if I have a premium product, then I out source the cover. It's the better of the two options IMOH.

      Regards,
      Jeff.

I agree with dremora, fiverr dot com is a great place to get an ecover done for you. Also, I use paint dot net to create my own, its free and a lot easier to use than photoshop or gimp. You can just google for some helpful videos, that's what I did.
