Download Camtasia Video..?

Is there any way we can download camtasia videos which is streaming online? Is it possible to do that?

Yes, I do it all the time.

You can view the code and locate the .swf or .flv file. If it is embedded in the config.xml file, you view that instead of the html file.

If that sounds too complex, use live http headers add-on in firefox to see the communication between browser and server.

Of course, this presumes the video is not protected at all by the server side software.

Simply look for your large swf file.

Copy to desktop (or folder)

You can use standalone flashplayers to view.

You can't.

So don't bother worrying too much about it. There are far more important things to focus on.

Every person who visits a page with a static progressive video embedded in it and watches that video has it downloaded to their computer anyway. It stays in their cache until they delete the cache.

But it involves a more advanced technical skill.

One idea is if you use DLGuard or some protection that allows you to protect PHP, convert your .html into PHP, protect it...

and then use web server software to protect video files. Could be done with combination of server software and user space code.

As to the reason you want this, perhaps you want to prevent people from passing video to the swf or flv around...

But if that sounds gobbledygook to you, Josh is right, you have more important things to focus on.

Membership script like aMember automatically protects every file in specific directories if you use the right protection.

I could still use my firefox plugin to download it in one click.

You cant stop this from happening with progressive video.

Progressive video cannot be protected and NO DL guard cannot do a thing about it. Amember cannot protect it.

The minute a progressive video loads a viewer can download it in one click using the firefox plugin and once it loads it is already cached on their computer anyway and they can just locate the temporary file and copy it.

This is the reality of "progressive" or embedded media.

True streaming media or media served from a streaming server is not cached. If you want to protect your media from being downloaded or cached by the viewer you would need to use a combination of streaming server and/or drm technology.

I have access to drm technology for flash that can stop the person from viewing content once it is downloaded but there is no way of stopping them from downloading the embedded media.

The new version of Real Player lets you download videos as well. Once installed videos that you come across on the net automatically have a download button above them.

A member can download it, but non member can not. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.

You're right, it is still cached, but in my personal opinion there is nothing wrong for customers to access it in either method, just that to prevent non members to download it.

Thanks alot, I just spent hours searching for something to download camtasia videos, I even bought some software that supposedly downloads camtasia video, only to find that it does not work.

This does work great, but when I downloaded it, swf wasn't in the default list of extensions. You can add it in the preferences tab.

I am not able to download my classroom lectures which are posted to my university’s blackboard website.

All help would be greatly appreciated as it would be really cool to be able to view my class’s lectures after the semester ends.
