That first dollar and the turning point.

It took me a long time to realise that I had to get out of the buying mentality. Constantly looking for the next big thing. I don't think I was ever looking for the imaginary magic button. More like finding something that I could believe in.
I spent far too long doubting myself and in turn doubting everyone elses advice. It is easy to get caught in this trap. There will be others right now entering that very zone that I escaped from. I got out of the trap almost by accident. I had a small success, nothing to write home about. What it did show me though was that being creative and actually following through could give me results.

This changed my whole outlook. Now I knew I already had enough knowledge to at least earn something. It is that lightbulb above the head moment.
It seems that the first dollar really is the hardest, but only if you carry a heap of pre-conceived ideas. Don't doubt yourself. Make sure that you do something positive everyday. Do not go to bed at night and think you have wasted the day. Make real plans and follow through on your ideas.

Never be envious of anyone. We can all live the life we want to live. Be inspired though, do be inspired.

      Hi,

      Great post!

I know what you mean. This is really a costly cycle. Sometime, it really take time to realize that. It's easy to buy now with a credit card.

You have to realize the answers are not outside of you, those are inside of you. If you don't succeed with a program you won't succeed with another one. You have to change your inside programmation. Very crucial!

The turning point for me was when I decided to become "The eBook Coach" and created a workshop that teaches people to write a profitable ebook in 72 hours or less. It just took off at that point. Before that I was just another IM want-to-be.

I think the chance in my way of thinking never came as a flash of inspiration it came over several years of working away online, with every site and every sale I know my thinking changed. I still buy so many new products but with having a base to work on and money coming in I can stay focused so much easier

Personally, I would suggest to the newbies to stick to exactly two methods of money making that you are confident upon, and well-distribute your efforts between the two. By that, you would not be diversifying your efforts too much (2 is much more managable than 10 simulataneous efforts) and also just in case one of the methods that do not work the other will.

Excellent thoughts. I was in the same situation as you were. I think it makes you become an addict and you spend more than you earn and become a pauper. I halted myself after really spending thousands of dollars.

So true... I spent 4 years to make my first dollar... I was slow...

It took me another year for my second sale...

Then something clicked, and the second sale led to $21k over the next year...

It has only got better in years since...

It's about sticking with something that you have a natural like for, and staying focused on doing that one or two things over and over again. Even when it gets boring.

IM is really about constant repetition. It's not glamorous. Just do some work each day that takes you one step closer to your goal of making a sale.
