Dumb ? about 301 redirect to affiliate link

I've never dealt with this so I need some info.

I was watching a micronichefinder video and they mentioned finding for example a hot keyword say DFV10 Blue Ray Player then getting
DFV10BlueRayPlayer.com and 301 redirecting it to Amazon or wherever via affiliate link.

They claim to get type in traffic this way but I am wondering what does Google do when they see this?

Will they even index the domain?

Seems like something is wrong with that, does this work?

I think it might be helpful to do this if you were trying to drive traffic to the domain through article marketing, let's say....but I doubt that the site would remain indexed for long with a 301 redirect.

It is also my understanding that all the link juice would basically be redirected to the domain that it is forwarding to...so this might be the reason that it might not stay indexed for long.

I am speaking from personal experience and I really don't have a huge SEO background nor anyone cool inside google with all the real answers...just my experience here...

    Hi Christian,
This is not a dumb question at all. I cant believe anyone would suggest this method as it has serious repercussions.

Let us assume that you own the domain DFV10BlueRayPlayer.com and you do a 301 redirect to go to the specific Amazon product page. Assuming your site has a PR2 and about a dozen pages with product reviews of the player, articles etc, Google would have all these pages in its index.

When you 301 redirect DFV10BlueRayPlayer.com (home page) to the specific Amazon product page, your link juice from that page flows directly to the amazon page as 301 is a permanent redirect as Bretski rightly pointed out. In reality, the Amazon page is going to benefit immensely from your hard work.

After a certain period of time, your home page will disappear from the Google index as now Google has updated it to take the visitor directly to the Amazon page (direct traffic or bookmarked traffic). The remaining 11 pages of your site will still be there in the Google index.

If you do a sitewide 301 redirect, then all pages of your site will redirect to the Amazon bluray product page. Amazon is clearly the winner in the end. Your hard work goes down the drain.

      Thanks guys,
I would not be concerned with PR leaking as I would be buying the domain specifically to redirect it hoping to get type in traffic and possibly use it as a cleaner aff link for articles, comments, etc.

I might throw a bit of content onto it just to get it indexed but then 301 it over. It's just hard for me to believe Google would let this slide or keep it in their index.

I guess I am still wondering why MNF videos would suggest this if it would not work.

Isnt redirecting against Amazon rules? Using redirects and getting to amazon page without action from the user.

Has anyone got paid doing this. They can easily track this and give you Nothing!
