Google Analytics Bounce Rate

Hey guys,

Just started sending traffic to my squeeze page - just wondering how many daily visitors you should before you take the bounce statistic on analytics seriously or if it's accurate regardless of how many people you're sending to your site?

Ex.

You have 20 visitors a day, with a bounce rate of 100% (inaccurate)
You have 2000 visitors a day, with a bounce rate of 80% (accurate)

Do you need a high number of visitors/day to acknowledge the bounce rate it's giving you, or would you say it's spot on most of the time regardless of traffic?

Thanks,

The fact is, you cannot rely 100% on Analytics. Just like all keyword software / service / tools. They serve as a guide only.

But of course, the larger your sampling, the more accurate the data.

Based on my experience, you need at first 5k visitors and then the bounce rate will be accurate

Google analytics can be all over the shop just like its keyword tool. If using adwords or any other PPC consider hippojaw or another tracker

Now one thing to keep in mind as well if you just created this site. You will need to take into consideration that you will be bouncing in and out of the site for the first few days or hours to make sure every thing looks right and the site is functioning properly. Now another thing is I do not know what site you have that has only 20 visitors a day and a bounce rate of 100% total. For I have one site I just started not too long ago that gets about that many visitors with only 7 articles on eza and a few other locations. However the bounce rate for that site is hovvering at around 40-60%. Now I have another site that has a far better turn out and I am getting a bounce rate on average of 20-50%. Now that site does get a considerable bit more traffic then though other but the bounce rate only represents visitors who are staying on your site longer then a few seconds. It is a good way to tell if you are giving your readers/buyers what they are looking for. Now I also have a return rate of about 30% too which helps lower the bouce rate. You want your bounce rate as low as you can not as high as possible.

    Ethan,

I can't say that there is a definite number but I don't start taking anything into account until 5k visitors. Of course, you should filter out your IP and anything else you know will skew your data.

    Kind Regards,
