Newbie here trying to figure out which domain would be better from both an online and offline marketing standpoint. I'll be mentioning this url from the stage as well as have it on business cards.

joesmellowmusic.com
joesmusic.co
joesmusic.org

My first thought is the dotcom.

Any insight much appreciated.

Personaly I would go as generic as you could. Its ok to have a "brandable domain" but if you can afford it go more generic.

If you're announcing it on stage, I'm sure quite a few people would misspell the first domain.

Actually yes you're right, for a domain that you are announcing then joesmusic would probably be best. I'm assuming this isn't available in .com or .net?

joesmellowmusic is good since it is more targeted/specific compared to the others. In that way, you cam optimize it better compared to the generic domains.

Hmmm, that's a hard one. I like joesmusic but it would be good if you could get it with .com or .net

joesmellowmusic is good too and I think I'd probably prefer that over .co or .org

.com, .net and .org have the same Domain Density. i.e. 100% Density.

Going for joesmusic.org would be 100% better for pronunciation as well as marketing online.

Alternatively I would also suggest you add a dash ( - ) between the two words. It doesn't make any difference in the eye of a search engine. And it also looks nice on your Business Card.

    joes-music.net and joes-music.org are available. Unfortunately joes-music.com isn't.

At this moment, if I had to decide - I'd go with joesmusic.org

BTW, I do not RECOMMEND .co domain extension.

From an SEO standpoint definitely go with the .com or .org with the .com preferred.

Having an exact keyword in the domain name is really super important when being searched for.

The .co may look cool, but it's not useful if you wanna be found online.

Tell me, friend - if .co is such a useless domain name, why can I easily find The 30 Day Challenge by simply googling "challenge"? Well, it's on a second position, but you get the picture.

True, .net and .com have 100% density. But who says it's going to be like that forever?

The 30 day Challenge was re branded as
'The Challenge' this year, so finding it with
the word 'Challenge' makes a lot of sense.

It's a good example of a successful .co
domain name, but it has masses of useful
content, a high following, inbound links
that have accrued as a result of some of the
lessons. Indeed there are lots of reasons
this .co domain is doing well aside from
          the domain extension.

Personally I would go for a .com because,
          unless you're a magazine, a school, or a
          voluntary group people expect it.

Tell an audience your domain name is
          musicwithjoe.com and they'll find you,
their friends will find you too.

Tell an audience your domain is joesmusic.co
and they might find you because you will
emphasise the domain extension, but when
they mention your site to their friends those
          friends won't be so diligent.

Most likely they'll remember joesmusic and
          add a .com

A good domain name and extension is important,
but posting quality original content to which you
funnel traffic is a tried and tested route to success.

It all depends on your offline advertisement. If you are going to do a lot of offline ads for branding purposes and name recognition I would go with the .com domain because you don't want people to go to joesmusic.com instead of .org simply because they can't remember it.

But if all this site is for is to attract online customers, then going with the .org is fine.

i dont think quoting the 30 day challenge is a good example of using a .co

    Take for example.. alexa..

They have thousands of users installing an alexa bar.. and going to their site every day... im surprised its not higher ranked...

most.. SEO info sites as a matter of fact.. are generally high ... .. warrior here is a good example... 594 alexa? or more likely anyone who comes to this site.. ... who doesnt have alexa installed...

joesmellowmusic.com is main first choice .com is easy to sale and your main key words are in the name.
I know joesmusic.co and joesmusic.org are shorter and easy to remember but will be difficult to sale.
