Setting up a blog in the self-help niche, but am not a real expert. I need help on that one :)

Hello Warriors,

Greetings of the Day! Hope you'll are enjoying a great Sunday...

I have some cash waiting to be used up in my account and I thought I'll set up a blog (or website) in the self-help niche... I've been thinking of entering this market since a very long time, hence the decision.

However, there's this Barney Rubble (err.. trouble) I'm faced with. I'm no expert on Personality Development. In fact, I could actually use some help. So, how do I go about it?

I would appreciate that both sides of the coin are seen here. The naysayers who suggest that I shouldn't venture in because I know nothing about it (and that.. 'allegedly' I'll be misleading people) are also requested to kindly try and share why I should be doing it. I know it's difficult for a person to have two differing opinions on a particular subject, but hey... we're all marketers. I'm all for providing value to people, but I cannot be everybody (and am no self-help master/guru as of now).

Thanks in advance, for any thoughts on this

go learn about it get a bunch of books at the bookstore and read everything you can.

this will help you develop yourself and share your knowledge with others as you go thru the journey.

as people comment and ask questions - go search for an answer for them.

many people are in the same boat as you where they want to learn about something and you can "go there with them"

and of course... this goes without saying... dont claim to be an expert... just be a guy in search like them... but your doing the research

      Hi theultimate1,

I'm no expert on Personality Development. In fact, I could actually use some help.
Diary method - don't pretend to be an expert. Position yourself honestly (at the same level as your targets) and 'tell the story' of what you learn and achieve as you go.

Then once you're done, you can sell it as - 'I did it and taught myself, you can too - follow my journey'.

Now you're going to tell us the site is selfhelpguru.com, right?

(Edit - I agree with Eddieheli and magicmarcus above.)

I like this as an option because its honest.

Another option would be to hire out/buy writing from someone who is an expert and then take care of the marketing thing yourself.

I guess it depends on what your personal goals are for the project.

If you want to be writing content and are interested in the topic matter then you should definitely pursure exrats option.

Also, if you did go that route, you could even start by just blogging about your problems. People like to read that sort of thing. Use some interesting post titles, share with social media, do a few youtube videos etc. Then people would really see your true journey.

    Well,
I think you've answered your own question really.
You said you need some help yourself, so go get it. Read everything you can get about the subject and before long you will become an expert.
You are actually in a good position because if you need help yourself you know what you are looking for and will soon find out what works and what is rubbish.
Whatever you find that helps you is exactly what you need to blog about.
    Good luck.
