--- PLEASE READ MY UPDATE ON POST 100 ---

Thank you Warriors,

I've been a member here, as well as other forums, during 4 years. During this time I've received a lot of great info from my fellow Warriors, but I really haven't accomplished my goal, that is, build a successful and profitable long term business.

I've made some money here and there, but I've also lost a lot of money buying hundreds of products and tools.

I've always thought that there was a big secret to make money online that I didn't know, so I continued to buy course after course, browsing forum after forum and going from one big thing to the next big thing without really taking any action.

Now I've finally discovered that I was right, there are some big secrets and a super secret tool that I needed to know in order to become successful and build a profitable business (Note that I told "build a business", not make money online).

Okay, so this is the super secret tool essential for success:
MY BRAIN

And the big secrets:
- A PLAN
- MASSIVE ACTION
- FOCUS

Now I have knowledge, a plan and someone to guide me.
So today I have commited myself to be successful, so I promised myself:

I'm leaving the Warrior forum.....
I'm going to stop browsing other forums.......
Not going to buy a single book or course.......
I'm going to spend every second of my time online building my business.....

Until I make at least $1000 per month

That's my goal and I'm going to work hard until I achieve my goal, and then..... I'll work even more hard.

It's not a high goal, it's achievable.

But when I reach $1000 per month I'll have a working business and I will be able to reinvest the profits in hiring people to scale my business.

Then I will be back on this forum

See you then guys.....

Cool you figured out the secret.

    What an awesome epiphany!

Still you should come here when you need a question answered and just look up that specific question but dont SURF.

Ps. Good luck on staying away, thats hard for me. I love this place, but then you can always do what I did and integrate the idea of a FORUM into your biz plan... that takes a little edge off!

    Bye Bye Warrior...

Sounds Strange... Warriors Never Say Bye!!!

    Warriors Kill!!!

Anyways, if you think, you can do it all well without having Such Warriors Around, I wouldn't bring your motivation down.

But I think, this high level of thinking must be very dangerous... - You know this could bring only two things - 1. A massive Success or 2. A massive Failure.

Lets keep those talks aside... All I wanna tell you now is Wish You All The Best!!!

The only thought of you that stated you'd be back here once you'd achieve your goal is good enough to all of us!!!

I'm sure, you'll be back here again replying... you did what you wanted!!!

I just don't want to be distracted, I already have a coach for advice (http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...ggestions.html) and honestly browsing forums always gets me distracted, I can find me browsing thread after thread for such a long time that it's much better to avoid forums while working on my plan.

But I still love the Warrior Forum, will be back soon ;-)

Glad you evaluated and decided what you need to change.

Only problem is, you left a good bye note.

Now, you're back in the forum responding to the thread.

Listen, NO offense, but if you REALLY need to NOT be in the forum, don't be.

If what you really need is self-control of how much time you spend, get a kitchen timer. Set it for so many minutes. That's it after it dings.

If you quit smoking, you can control the time you spend on forums.

Hang in there - just do it vs saying you will. Again, not encouraging you to leave (I agree with Tryinhere above) but if you need to spend less time, then do so. YOU CAN DO IT.

        All success,

        Gary

If he has been in the forums for 4 years I agree it would be very difficult to
abruptly stop. As Frank Sinatra once said, "I know I said that I was leaving, but I just couldn't say goodbye ..."

My two cents worth is for him to devote less time in the forums and spend more time in his business. Stop gathering information. You already have all the information you need to get started. Put up a simple blog, make mistakes, gather just enough information to keep going, improve your website little by little, persevere, until you succeed... should not take you more than 1 year.

      Good luck.

      Now is the time.

I remember some years ago, one day I decided to throw away my packet of cigarretes and never smoke again (I was smoking 2 packets a day).

Best of luck to you, kenomen. Hope to see you back here, sooner rather than later with your triumphant success story.

Not that you asked, but, may I recommend one of the most valuable tools I have used to help with focus and completion? Get yourself a digital timer that has seconds, minutes, hours. Radio Shack makes an affordable one that has a little clip stand. Its amazing how quickly you can train yourself to get focused and get things done with a little external reminder and support.

Schedule your work session in advance. Before you start, block out a specific chunk of time to work, let's say an hour. Break your bigger jobs down into manageable tasks requiring no more than 20 min each to complete. In the beginning, it helps to start with even shorter time periods until you improve your ability to focus. Decide in advance exactly what you want to accomplish during that time.

Divide that hour into mini work sessions and one break of 5 or so minutes. At the end of an hour, you will find that you have 3-4 tasks completed. It may take some practice, but its rewarding to see yourself making progress bit by bit. Hope that's useful to you or someone else that happens by. Cheers! -CP

I'm glad you finally see the light! It's not about the latest shiny new system or what you know, all of that is useless if you don't apply it and take really massive action (lots of smart but broke people out there!) The majority of people stop short of that and probably only devise a grand plan to make money, but without focus and taking that massive action then they're nothing more than pipe dreams in your head!

Your move to focus on the tasks and projects that you have in hand is commendable.

I noticed that you did not mention removing yourself from mailing lists too (if you are subscribed to any). If you did then sorry, but I must have overlooked it.

If you have not done so, remove yourself from all mailing lists, except those that provide you with relevant and valuable current information and keep those to a minimum. Yes you will get offers, but if they complement your business, consider them.

Beware though, do not fail to keep up with the innovations and developments that are taking place in the IM niche and on the Internet in general while pursuing your business interests.

Don't cut your self off completely.

Focus is good, isolation is not.

Just my thoughts and the very best of luck.

Excellent, you definitely do have the secret to making money online. The internet is one big distraction and the irony for internet marketers is that it can be their death knell with forums, email lists, blogs, rss feeds taking up most of their time.

Focus is the key and sticking with one thing until it succeeds. Most methods for making money online work but the majority of people never stick to anything for long enough.

While others will congratulate you, I have a different take. I think that you are making a mistake leaving the forum. Just because you have your little plan in place doesn't mean you know it all. We can never "know it all." Not to mention, staying around a community like this can keep you knowing the "heartbeat" of the industry. I think you are foolish to leave.

Yes focusing and taking massive action is what you need to do, but I think you should consider the fact that there are more benefits to checking out the forum at least once in a while than not at all.

If you truly want to build a business, you need to stay on the cutting edge of everything. Reading and participating in forums can help you continue to learn and also create good business relationships. Just my opinion.

I was kind of expecting a 'I've been trying for years... and I'm giving up post" ... but I was glad to see what you had to say instead.

While I do think that this forum has AMAZING resources for someone to start learning the ins and outs of this kind of business... it can also be a HUGE time & money suck. I know I've used up more than enough of both here sometimes.

I find I do my best work when I shut myself off from everything and put my nose to the grindstone. Hit a certain goal... then come back up for air, take a bit of a break and only then check out the forum again to keep up with things.

I bet you're gonna find success & results pretty quickly with the plan you've laid out...

I'm not even a marketer yet... I'm just reading and gathering information and I already know that the forum is not your problem.

There is a term that season marketers use call "shiny thing syndrome" where you don't focus on one thing and perfect it before you move on to the next.

I applaud you for making a bold step in the right direction. You know what to do. You have all the right ingredients, its just a matter of putting them together in the right proportion.

I'm new, and I find this forum really useful as it has a lot of answers to my questions, also a lot of courses, tools, tips, etc, I think it's a case of sorting the good from the bad, I'll always use good forums for knowledge and sharing, as I believe you can always learn something from others.

I wish you good luck.. but I think you are making a huge mistake leaving the Warrior Forum. I don't which other forums you visit but you can eliminate them right away. But your biggest fans and supporters and information providers are right here. We are all willing and in some cases able to help you.

If you are going to have a profitable business on the Internet, the first thing you have to do is stop buying every "next best thing that is offered". You might want to unsubscribe to the "Sell You Everything Under the Sun" lists that just keep pushing more and more products on you.
Concentrate and focus Yeah.. that is the key
But you should not withdraw from this forum.

Consider this sage advice from an old soul... someone who has been there and done that.

Whatever products or services that you have already purchased, make those work. Read some of the "free" ebooks that explain what you need to do to establish your own business. What type of business are you trying to build.
    Are you an affiliate?
Do you have your own website?
Do you belong to any membership site

You have to stay where you receive your strength ideas and get courage to fight another day/ What business model are you using?

      Hi konomen,

Some good observations and advices above. I read this thread from A to Z and would like to refer to one thing only.

I remember some years ago, one day I decided to throw away my packet of cigarretes and never smoke again (I was smoking 2 packets a day).

That was over 10 years ago. I've never smoked again.

      This is the same:

      Determination.
I feel you have every chance to reach your $1000 goal very soon. Stopped smoking is an excellent precedent may be for you in the present situation. Sure, you are able to achieve your present aim if you were able to keep that pledge at that time.

The keyword is as you wrote: [bold]DETERMINATION[/bold]. As I see you have knowledge, experience more than enough. If you feel that you aren't able to [bold]FOCUS[/bold] and need someone to strenghten you then go for it.

I really wish you success and see you back asap.

      All the best,

      Sandor

    That is the attitude!

Hats off to you for taking action finally. That is the biggest reason people fail online - they keep buying course after course thinking that there is some 'magic recipe' when really all you need is a plan and the focus to work that plan without getting side-tracked by all the 'shiny stuff'

Hope you come back soon to share your success story.

  • Good luck Mate. And one piece of advice: If you treat your Internet Marketing projects as a business, and have a focused plan you will find its a lot easy to suceed and find out how you can improve.

That means, having a set time each day to do work in an optimal work environment, freeing yourself from distractions and set down to do your work. I cannot tell you how many times I have coached or had people complain to me, simply because they didn't treat their business as a business.

They expected a band-aid fix or wanted somone else to do all of their work for them. They did not set personal goals for themselves and expected to be millionaires overnight. And ultimately they were no better off then when they stated.

The smart ones, really focused on their work, were dedicated to it and constantly looking for areas to improve their campaigns or business. They were not afraid to take measured risks, and reaped the rewards.

      Great advice Kevin.

      Hi,

This is word by word right. I couldn't say it better. Your last paragraph is the right mindset for entrepreneurs.

According to my experience along my life, it is a human feature that most people are looking for the easier road always. They don't take notice of the fact that all success - either in busieness or in life - has it's price what it is necessary to pay.

So take your business as business what can not succed without determination and with half ass work.

      All the best,

Congrats! I sincerely think you're taking the right steps. Every time I bump up my income level, from the very first time I started making consistent income to now, it's because I start to spend less time here and more time actively generating income for a while. Then I return and have a period of recuperation, analyzing what I've done and planning what to do next -- and the forum is a perfect place to hang out in these downtimes.

The forum is fantastic for advice, keeping an eye on fellow IM'ers, generating ideas for new activities, and so on. But unless you have a link to a WF-based offer in your sig and you're trying to promote it by posting in relevant threads (one of those borderline iffy activities, by the way), you aren't actually generating income. You're increasing your potential. Fantastic to do, but not to the exclusion of actually generating income!

That's why I think you made the right call... and I look forward to seeing you back here soon!

Although I agree with other posters in the forum saying that you should use this tool to be "in the know", I also think that if you need a break, go for it.

The benefits of resting your mind for a little while is priceless (trust me, I know). I took the advice of a fellow Warrior and looked at what it was that made me work too hard, and actually achieve much less in the process.

By taking it as it comes (that doesn't mean don't fight, you are a warrior after all), you will learn the correct way to make a successful business.

Then I will be back on this forum

    See you then guys.....
Goodluck! I was once like you.. buying and reading all the things about IM that I can get my hands only to be distracted by ideas after ideas that come into my mind. Information overload.

Truth be told, I've been a member of the forum years back till I decided to forget my old account and decided to focus on the things that I bought. I stayed away from the forum for sometime and spent my time developing my online business applying the guides, materials and advices that I got here. So now I'm back here at the forum to give help as much I can because my online business is now doing great. Its my little own way of giving back to fellow members.

I've been a member of lots board and if there's one thing that I notice is that most and I say most of real successful entrepreneurs are rarely active on forums because they are busy working on with their business. Same thing i observed when I was doing freelance web development work (years ago before I decided to become a full time IM), freelancers who are so active on board, who's online portfolio are constantly updated are the ones who doesn't have projects.

I say good move on your decision to say goodbye for a while and go and apply the things that you've gained. Your $1000 a month goal is very achievable online. Just give it enough focus and determination and you'll see yourself surpassing that goal.

Good luck once more and see you again at the forum

2 - You can brand yourself on this forum. By writing here, and contributing, you can get to know people, who can help you help yourself. It's networking, when it's best.

    Hi Warriors...... I'm back.

If you recall (If not, just read the first post of this thread), I told all of you that I was retiring from browsing and participating in this forum until I made 1K per month, my plan was to take massive action and get rid of distractions.

You may be thinking, okay, now he is going to tell us that he made it and is going to sell it as a WSO.

    No.

    I dind't accomplish my goal.

    Why?

    Because I didn't focus enough.

But I'm back because while on "retire" from forums I noticed and learned some important things.

I already know how to make money!
Yes... during this time I've been building Amazon niche sites and following a coaching program, I've had results from the Amazon sites and these sites are already earning some money.

In fact I'm earning about $300 USD per month from 4 sites I build 1-2 years ago that I set and forget. Not a single new link or new content in more than 1 year and they are making good money.

These sites took me a few hours to set up... If I had been building sites like these during these 4 years online, I would be making a fortune. Stupid me!!!

The thing is that I KNOW how to make money.

But during this time I've also realized that, as some Warriors pointed out, it's not good to isolate from other marketers.
Building relationships and networking with other Marketers is a vital aspect for business. I also realized that I know a LOT of things so I can give good advice to other Warriors less experienced.

So I will stay with you here at the Warrior Forum, I will share my experiences and will participate in the community.

That's it for now, soon I will be sharing with you other things I've learned and realized during my "retire".

      ".
I would be vey careful with this statement because in my experience hanging out in forums is dangerous if you don't make money already. It makes you believe you are part of a successful community but in reality you are not since you admit yourself you failed to achieve your goal.

I mean, there is not such a thing as "I know how to make money online". Either you make it or you don't. I this business there is no theoretical "know", there is just actually "do" or not.

My advice? Focus Exclusively on your business and stay away from forums until you actually "do" on instead of "know".

        Hey,

First off - loads of luck to you!

Building an online business is NOT an easy task and anyone who has ever deluded you into thinking that is either

        a) out to scam you or

        b) mislead you or

        c) maybe he/she is another misguided soul gripped with the mania of acquiring internet wealth - the sooner the better!

WF is an awesome place and it does help. But if I had bought every course and eBook out there to discover the "secret map to riches", I would have probably lost my house!

FOCUS, determination, resilience and brains - these go into forming a successful business.

        Nothing else.

        No matter what anyone says.

        It's as simple as that.

        Thanks.

well since I'm one the many people who took Micheal's course here on the forums on Amazon. I can vouch for Micheal and say that Amazon can really be a long term business, and once you set up a site properly, you don't need to touch it again.
I'm building my site it's been about 3 weeks and I built with Micheal's method but I haven't done much of the work that Micheal told me to do after I finished to course so I am not seeing the greatest results, but I got many gold keywords ranking in google first page... just not first rank. The reason why I did not follow is because college assignments keep me busy. As soon as I get the exams finished, I'm sure I'll be able to make a good Amazon site.

And by the way, Micheal himself makes over $3300 a month with his Amazon sites... considering his Amazon WSO here I guess he's making much more than that.

So in conclusion, Amazon can be a long term business with a steady income if you really put work into it.

          Sincerely,
          Isac

p.s. whatever your goals are good luck man! Keep that determination on fire!

Good Luck! I've been doing the same thing, trying this, buying that and not concentrating on anything. You are doing what I know I should be doing and I'm going to make the effort in 2011. Your post was a good reminder. Wish you every success.

I think the main obstacle standing in the way of your success is a lack of focus. You say you already have several Amazon sites created a few years ago making you a steady $300 per month in 'set and forget' fashion. Why on earth haven't you reinvested some of your profits in building many, many more of those sites? You seem to already know what goes into a successful Amazon site, so why haven't you scaled it up already?

Amazon sites is not a long term business.

I will not put my business in the hands of the vagaries of Google.

Besides Amazon sites, I'm going to start building lists in profitable business, that's the way to go. Control your traffic, control your business.
However... it's the amazon sites that are making money when everything else you invested time and money into failed... that is the impression I got from your first post.

Sounds to me like you gobbled up too much guru nonsense and it led you down the wrong path and now you're falling back into that trap.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Well, I have mixed feeling about WF . But I'm just wonder.
How many people(WF) actually are making $1,000( net) at least per month?

    C'm raise your hand.

ME ... WAY more than a grand a month and I have to attribute that to connections made here at WF. Don't get me wrong .... WF pisses me off A LOT but I can't dispute the fact that it has been a huge part of my success.

It's already been said but I recommend ...

1: Get to work ... build 50 of those Amazon Sites
      2: Focus
3: Drop in WF here and there ... don't spend hours every day here
      4: Focus
5: Use the cash from the Amazon Site to hire someone to keep building them for you
      6: Focus

      Did I say FOCUS!!!!!

How long have you been trying to reach your $1000 goal? Instead of selling your own products why not use Clickbank and promote other peoples products. Create a review site that reviews the products and throw your codes in there, it's easy as apple pie. Keep creating more and more autoblogs and review sites and sooner than later you'll be making over $1000 a month

My weakness is buying lots of "holy grail" domains. LOL !!!

When we do these things we are buying "hope" which is a good thing when it is finally
put into a focused effort on something that works.

Reading all the dumb forums and peoples marketing ploys will have others think this BS. That is where most people fall off. There is no magic potion. I bet you'll make your first 1k this month if you do this. Stop wasting your $$ on getting other people rich... Good luck!
